On 1 April 2026, NSS and NES became one national organisation, focused on continuity today and a stronger, more connected service for tomorrow. As part of this transformation, NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) and NHS Education for Scotland (NES) have joined to form Public Services Delivery Scotland (PSD Scotland). This new organisation plays a pivotal role in supporting the renewal and ensuring the long-term sustainability of health and care services across Scotland.

PSD Scotland is a remote-friendly employer with staff based throughout Scotland. We support office-based and hybrid working arrangements and welcome conversations about alternative working patterns.

About the role

The Nursing and Midwifery and Allied Health Professions (NMAHP) Directorate supports the education, training, and continuing professional development of nurses, midwives, allied health professionals, health and social care chaplains, and healthcare support workers. The Directorate also provides education, training, and workforce development across wider professional groups and disciplines, often in partnership with other agencies, to support key policy imperatives.

The NMAHP Practice Education and Preregistration Programme, within the NMAHP Directorate, supports key workstreams including Careers & Recruitment, Performance Enhancement, Health & Wellbeing, Practice-based Learning (capacity, capability, quality, governance), and Workforce Development. The team collaborates with partners from health and social care, Higher Education Institutions, the Scottish Government, and other organisations to meet PSD Scotland’s targets and strategic policies.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the NMAHP Practice Education and Preregistration team, supporting key workstreams relating to the practice-based learning environment for NMAHP learners. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated allied health professional educator to provide visible and sustainable educational leadership, working collaboratively across Public Service Delivery Scotland.

Responsibilities

  • Provide educational leadership in practice-based learning for NMAHP learners.
  • Collaborate across organisations to support multi-professional education approaches.
  • Work with partners in health and social care, Higher Education Institutions, and the Scottish Government to meet strategic goals.
  • Support the development and delivery of key workstreams, including Careers & Recruitment, Performance Enhancement, and Workforce Development.
  • Negotiate, influence, and manage people effectively in a complex and political environment.
  • Build networks and communities of practice to enhance learning experiences.
  • Communicate complex information clearly to a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Organise and prioritise workloads to meet strict deadlines.

Requirements

  • Registration as an allied health professional (AHP) with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Expertise in education, teaching, or facilitation (required for this post).
  • Commitment to multi-professional approaches to education.
  • Proven track record in negotiating, influencing, and managing people.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and build networks.
  • Highly effective communication skills, including simplifying complex information for diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across organisational boundaries.
  • Honesty, integrity, care, and compassion in dealing with others.
  • Ability to work independently, organise workloads, and meet deadlines.

Benefits

  • Flexible and hybrid working opportunities.
  • Generous NHS pension scheme.
  • Annual incremental salary progression (up to the maximum of the salary band) plus annual NHS salary scale review.
  • Annual leave: 27 days, increasing with service, plus 8 public holidays.
  • NHS discounts and additional benefits.

Schedule

  • Permanent, part-time role (21.6 hours per week).

Eligibility to work in the UK is required and must be maintained throughout employment. PSD Scotland welcomes applications from all backgrounds, including those returning from career breaks or transitioning from other fields. If you would like to discuss adjustments or alternative work patterns, please contact us.
