Skill Requirements
- Excellent interpretation skills within a diverse audience setting
- Passionate about conservation and research
- Knowledge of exhibit interpretation, educational theory, childhood development, marine biology, and/or ecology
- Strong mentoring and coaching skills
- Willingness to be trained to handle animals for education programs
Essential Functions
- Leads the development and implementation of interpretive programming and conservation learning messaging
- Serves as a subject matter expert in interpretation and program development
- Trains, mentors, and coaches several educator cohorts
- Delivers mission-based programs to the public
- Represents the Aquarium in a leadership role to outside groups and institutions
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in marine science, environmental science, education, museum studies, or a related field and/or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 3-4 years of interpretive experience and/or program development in an aquarium, zoo, museum, or similar institution required
- Minimum of 2-3 years of supervisory, mentoring, and/or training experience required, preferably within an aquarium, zoo, museum or similar setting
- Experience managing multi-department projects and tracking deadlines preferred
- Experience guiding groups/individuals or leading special events on short notice required
Benefits
This is a full-time regular position offering a comprehensive benefits package. The schedule will be Tuesdays through Saturdays with the option for a hybrid schedule, working some days on-site and some days remotely. Candidates will have the flexibility to choose from an 8a – 4p, 9a – 5p, or 10a – 6p schedule. Remote days are only available for residents of MA, RI, NH, ME, NY and VT.
