Senior Editor
About the role
We are seeking an experienced, nimble, driven editor to join our newsletters team. The ideal candidate prioritizes excellent storytelling and will oversee staff writers to shepherd stories from start to finish. This person will work closely with other editors to suggest story ideas, sharpen angles, edit, and write vivid and effective headlines. They will also assist in the execution of special projects and have occasional opportunities to write. The position will at times include night, early-morning, and weekend work.
Responsibilities
- Oversee staff writers to guide stories from conception to publication
- Collaborate with editors to suggest story ideas and refine angles
- Edit and craft vivid, effective headlines
- Assist in executing special projects
- Occasionally write articles
Requirements
- 10 years of editing experience
- Stellar work ethic and exceptional time management
- Magazine sensibility with a passion for ideas-based journalism
- Eagerness to collaborate and urgency to publish impactful stories
- Deep engagement with current news and conversations
- Experience editing news analysis, essays, and reporting on diverse topics
- Confidence and skills to help writers deliver high-quality work on tight deadlines
Knowledge of the current newsletter landscape is a plus.
Pay
Salary range: $105,000 – $125,000
