Summary As a Senior eCommerce Engineer, you will be responsible for creating solutions to address challenges using a multitude of modern web technologies across different business units of the Sarnova family of companies. You will participate in the full life cycle of development through Design, Build, Test, Deployment and Support of individual platforms. Individuals in this position are expected to provide second-level support for end-user issues. You will be expected to collaborate with your team and provide direction and support to less experienced developers. You will also participate in continual learning to further develop your own knowledge and skills in transformational areas including software development and eCommerce. Organizational Impact In this role, the Senior eCommerce Engineer plays a critical role in advancing Sarnova’s digital commerce capabilities across its family of companies. By designing and delivering scalable, secure, and high‑performing eCommerce solutions, this position directly impacts customer experience, operational efficiency, and revenue growth. Through technical leadership and cross‑functional collaboration, the Senior eCommerce Engineer helps ensure consistency, reliability, and innovation across multiple platforms and business units. By mentoring team members, modernizing architectures, and driving continuous improvement, this role strengthens Sarnova’s ability to adapt to evolving digital commerce demands and deliver exceptional online experiences to the EMS and acute care markets. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Hands-On Development: Lead and contribute to the development of custom solutions, microservices, and headless storefronts, writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code. The primary focus will be full stack development for Kibo Commerce and related platforms (Node.js, Next.js, React, Typescript, Shadcn, Tailwind, etc.)API Development & Maintenance: Design, develop, and maintain robust APIs to integrate commerce platform with third-party systems (e.g., OMS, CMS, PIM, ERP, payment gateways, and marketing tools)Cloud Infrastructure: Develop and optimize solutions on Azure or AWS, leveraging services like Azure Functions, AWS Lambda, or containerized environments for high availability, performance and cost efficiencyTechnical Leadership: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (developers, product managers, UX designers) to define technical requirements and guide implementation. Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards. Mentor junior developers and foster a culture of knowledge-sharing within the teamPerformance Optimization: Monitor and enhance platform performance using observability tools including New Relic, ensuring low latency, high reliability, and a seamless customer experienceSecurity & Compliance: Implement best practices for data security, privacy, and compliance with regulations like GDPR and PCI-DSSDocumentation: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for architecture, APIs, and processesInnovation: Stay updated on eCommerce trends, composable commerce updates, and emerging technologies to drive continuous improvement. Explore AI-driven features like personalization and automation using agents to enhance customer experience and operational efficiencyCollaboration with Stakeholders: Partner with business stakeholders, including marketing and sales teams, to ensure the eCommerce platform supports diverse business requirementsAdditional job duties as assigned Skills/Experience Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience5+ years of experience in backend development, with a focus on API design and implementationStrong strategic thinking and adaptability to evolving business and technology landscapesProven experience working in Agile/Scrum environmentsHands-on experience with composable commerce platforms (i.e. Kibo), including implementation of composable solutions and familiarity with its APIs and SDKsProficiency in web technologies (HTML, Python, CSS, JavaScript, RESTful APIs)Familiarity with front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Node.js, Next.js) for headless storefront developmentExperience with cloud services (AWS, Azure) and microservices architectureKnowledge of database systems (e.g., MSSQL) and caching mechanisms (e.g., Redis)Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and tools like Docker, Kubernetes, or TerraformExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detailStrong communication and collaboration skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced, agile environmentExtensive hands-on development experience in eCommerce solutionsExperience in developing and maintaining APIsExperience with PCI data security standards Sarnova is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
