Senior Doctrine Analyst
Position Overview
Complex, long-range doctrine issues at JS J-7 require senior analytic leadership at the Pentagon. The Senior Doctrine Analyst plans and coordinates major studies, develops technical analyses and recommendations, and guides less-experienced analysts. The role shapes how the joint force resolves the most demanding doctrine questions and keeps publications aligned with national strategy.
Essential Job Function
- Plan, conduct, and coordinate complex, long-range doctrine studies and develop technical recommendations.
- Lead or participate in major studies of comprehensive and complex doctrine issues.
- Delegate analytic tasks and evaluate the results of other analysts.
- Apply project management to publication efforts and organizational workflows.
- Communicate complex, highly technical doctrine matters to senior military and civilian leaders.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Master's degree with a minimum of 3 years operational experience; or Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years operational experience; or no degree with at least 10 years warfighting operational experience.
- Experience: Demonstrated success in four (4) or more of the following: two years equivalent to the Doctrine Analyst category; in-depth understanding of staff work; expert skill to plan, conduct, and coordinate complex long-range studies; expert skill leading major studies and evaluating the work of others; project management; and expert interpersonal skills to communicate complex technical information.
- Security Clearance: TS/SCI (per Staffing Plan).
Desired Qualifications
- Doctorate or advanced professional military education credential.
- Prior field-grade or senior civilian assignment on a Joint Staff or Combatant Command.
