About the Role

The Senior Distributions Analyst supports the daily operations of batch/bulk processes in accordance with FSG internal regulations, SEC, and IRS guidelines. This role oversees high-volume retirement plan processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely completion of daily tasks. It requires expertise in Relius, Salesforce, and Excel, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with internal and external partners in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage high-volume, complex batch processes, including quarterly auto rollovers, plan-term auto rollovers, monthly residual auto rollovers, quarterly loan defaults, involuntary cash-outs, and annual 5498 filings.
  • Oversee the monthly 1099-R audit process for assigned custodians, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
  • Resolve stale-dated checks for designated paying agents by coordinating with internal teams and external partners.
  • Review and clear outstanding cash items related to batch processing, ensuring timely and accurate reconciliation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve batch processes and collaborate with the Process Owner to document requirements and support development initiatives.
  • Build and customize Salesforce reports and monitor daily dashboards to track project status and operational performance.
  • Manage and resolve cases in the batch processing queue in alignment with established SLA standards.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for all Trade Agent processes, providing guidance and oversight to ensure effective project execution.
  • Take ownership of project-related issues by researching historical activity and coordinating with vendors and internal/external partners to drive resolution.
  • Communicate promptly with partners via phone or email to ensure timely follow-up and issue resolution.
  • Apply knowledge of IRS regulations related to retirement accounts and tax reporting, leveraging ongoing training, IRS publications, and other reference materials.
  • Perform additional duties and support special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of retirement industry experience, including at least 5 years of experience processing distributions, loans, and related participant transactions.
  • 3+ years of experience using Relius and Salesforce; experience processing disbursements across multiple Relius paying agents preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to research, resolve, and communicate complex operational issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to extract, validate, reconcile, analyze, and report on data from Relius, Salesforce, and other business systems to support operational processing, exception resolution, and management reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and procedural adherence, with a proven ability to consistently meet operational deadlines and processing cutoffs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal partners, leadership, clients, and external business partners.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, business needs, and process improvements while maintaining service and quality standards.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive client, participant, and plan information.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and varied schedules as business needs require.

Skills

  • Advanced Excel Proficiency: Required and validated through a practical assessment during the interview process. Candidates must be able to:
    • Import and prepare data from text files, CSV files, and other external sources.
    • Clean, transform, and organize large datasets.
    • Match and reconcile data across multiple reports and systems.
    • Identify, analyze, and report exception populations.
    • Create reporting and analytical outputs with minimal supervision.
    • Troubleshoot data discrepancies and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Minimum Required Excel Proficiency Includes:
    • Power Query
    • Pivot Tables
    • Conditional Formatting
    • VLOOKUP and XLOOKUP
    • IF / IFS statements
    • CONCAT / TEXTJOIN
    • LEN, LEFT, RIGHT, and MID functions
    • COUNTIF / COUNTIFS
    • SUMIF / SUMIFS
    • Sorting, filtering, and data validation
    • Text-to-Columns
    • General data analysis and reporting techniques

Candidates selected to move forward in the hiring process will be required to successfully complete a hands-on Excel assessment based on a realistic business scenario representative of the work performed within the department.

Remote Work Requirements

For this virtual remote position, an uninterrupted virtual workspace is required, with family care arranged during business hours. The internet speed requirement is 50 MBps or better for individual use. If multiple people share the same connection, a stronger speed may be necessary. Pay

The average salary for this position is expected to be between $56,000 and $70,000 per year. Base pay may vary depending on market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. While the company does not anticipate offering pay at the top of the range as standard, it may occur on a case-by-case basis.
