Senior Distribution Engineer
About the role
Leidos is seeking a Senior Distribution Engineer in the Allentown, PA area. The ideal candidate is passionate about electric utility design engineering and dedicated to ensuring high-quality work.
Responsibilities
- Design engineering for Leidos electric utility customers
- Develop work packages for overhead (OH), underground (UG), underground ready (URD), and make-ready projects
- Manage scope, schedule, and budget of work assigned
- Perform functional tasks, planning, and customer follow-up
- Conduct scope analysis of work assigned and maintain schedule adherence
- Advocate client priorities and initiate continuous improvement to workflow processes
- Coordinate conflicting utilities and other field engineering design requirements
- Develop large design packages for complex cable/conduit projects in dense urban environments
- Work with field data collection for design packages
- Develop work permits, easements, and ROW applications
Requirements
- 4+ years of relevant experience in electric utility design engineering
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial) from an ABET accredited institution
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
- Experience with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC)
- Proficiency with structural analysis, guying calculations, cable pulling calculations, coordination of protective devices, and electric demand and fault current calculations
- Ability to provide your own reliable transportation for local or regional customer-site visits

Skills
- Providing estimated costs, developing a Bill of Materials (BOM), and calculating the Cost Index Adjustment Calculation (CIAC)
- Using design tools such as Pole Foreman, Pull Planner, and Katapult
- Working with work management software and job estimating software
- Using CAD or MicroStation for electrical distribution design
- Ensuring Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) for design projects
- High-level organization and project management skills
- Uptraining entry-level resources and creating process documents

Pay
The pay range for this role is $73,450.00 - $132,775.00 annually. The final offer will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
Schedule
This position offers remote-working capabilities, but candidates must be located within a commutable distance of Allentown, PA to support local utility customers as needed.
