About the role

Product Management at Capital One is a booming, vibrant craft that requires reimagining the status quo, finding value‑creation opportunities, and driving innovative and sustainable customer experiences through technology. The Retail Bank team is seeking a highly strategic and technically deep Senior Director of Product to lead platform teams with a critical focus on building the next‑generation automated fraud defense engine. This individual will define the long‑term vision for the destination fraud decisioning platform, evaluate how it converges with enterprise infrastructure, champion new technology, scale a high‑performing team, and drive multi‑year strategic planning to build an unprecedented, unified defense ecosystem.

  • Drive clarity across a highly complex, ambiguous problem scope spanning anomaly detection, trend inference from fraud/claims, investigations, policy creation, optimization, testing, and lifecycle management.
  • Contribute to multi‑year strategic planning and directly influence budget allocation to support critical defense infrastructure.
  • Provide problem‑solving, technical acumen, and influence to drive a proof of concept within the next few quarters.
  • Mentor existing manager‑level product managers, scale the organization, and ensure operational excellence across the platform.
  • Oversee and align with 10+ technical and sprint teams to build and scale the platform, leading vision and strategy for complex architectural builds.
  • Develop and execute a phased, multi‑year technical delivery approach, transitioning from days‑to‑weeks manual updates to real‑time automated adaptations.
  • Navigate a highly complex internal stakeholder landscape, expand the defense engine horizontally to support other lines of business (e.g., SBB, Card, Marketing), and manage critical relationships with senior VP stakeholders and external vendors.
  • Ensure platform capabilities enable tenants to meet regulatory requirements, collaborate on model and credit decision risks, and maintain auditability of the automated fraud defense platform.
