Senior Director of R&D - Animal Safety

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Director of R&D - Animal Safety to join the team of a leader in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech space. This leader will guide a global R&D agenda focused on animal safety, shaping how new solutions move from concept through commercialization. The role will partner closely with cross-functional teams to balance innovation, technical rigor, customer needs, and compliance. You will also build and lead a high-performing global team with a strong culture of continuous improvement and execution. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $160,000 – $200,000 annually Responsibilities Develop and execute the global animal safety R&D strategy aligned with business objectives Lead the R&D portfolio from concept through commercialization, balancing improvements with innovation Establish effective portfolio governance, prioritizing projects and resources based on strategic priorities Drive technical excellence in product development with robust stage-gate processes Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure customer-focused and compliant product design Build and retain a high-performing global R&D organization, fostering leadership and continuous improvement Qualifications Advanced degree in Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Diagnostics, Animal Science, Microbiology, Immunology, or a related field; DVM or PhD preferred Significant senior-level experience in R&D or product development within animal health or veterinary diagnostics Strong knowledge of veterinary medicine and structured product development processes Experience managing innovation pipelines and delivering products from concept to commercialization Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional international teams Strategic leadership skills with a focus on technical feasibility and customer demand Benefits Opportunity to influence a global animal safety innovation portfolio Senior leadership role with broad cross-functional exposure Standard benefits package Inclusive working environment welcoming diverse candidates Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
