About the role

Serves as the senior human resources leader at Nelson University, collaborating with university leadership, department heads, and employees to support institutional objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Vice President of Business & Finance in the planning and execution of annual insurance renewals and benefits strategy.
  • Oversee the administration of employee benefit programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and related offerings.
  • Supervise payroll and human resources staff to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll and benefits.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel files and payroll records.
  • Manage and monitor the Human Resources departmental budget.
  • Conduct exit interviews and provide feedback to leadership on trends and recommendations.
  • Serve as Chair of the Staff Affairs Committee.
  • Provide guidance to departments and staff regarding the interpretation and application of payroll and benefits laws, policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Under the direction of the Vice President of Business & Finance, make technical and administrative decisions requiring analysis and interpretation of data, policies, and legal requirements.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with federal and state employment regulations, including COBRA and FMLA.

Requirements

  • An openly committed Christian who demonstrates a Spirit-filled life and is an active attendee of an Assemblies of God church.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; a minimum of five (5) years of professional HR experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of employee benefits administration, payroll systems, and employment law compliance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
