Permanent position based in Ypsilanti, MI.

About the role

Serve as a strategic HR leader, providing oversight and direction for all HR operational functions including recruitment, workforce planning, organizational restructuring, compensation, HR policies, and rewards & disciplinary matters. Strengthen the HR team’s organizational capability and professional depth while driving improvements in team culture, engagement, trust, and emotional well-being. Ensure critical HR issues are clearly identified and reported to the CHRO, and coordinate responses to high-priority directives from global headquarters.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to leadership on organizational design, workforce planning, and change management.
  • Develop executive-level reports related to HR strategy, programs, and metrics.
  • Develop and implement HR strategies that support business objectives and operational efficiency.
  • Utilize HR data and analytics to support decision-making and measure the effectiveness of HR programs.
  • Lead initiatives related to talent acquisition, retention, onboarding, succession planning, and leadership development.
  • Partner with department leaders to identify training needs and implement professional development programs.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of HR programs and policies across the organization.
  • Ensure alignment with state and federal employment laws (e.g., FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO) and global policies.
  • Monitor compliance and proactively mitigate risk through audits, training, and policy updates.
  • Oversee day-to-day employee relations activities, providing guidance to managers and employees to ensure a positive work environment.
  • Administer the performance management process, including goal setting, coaching, feedback, and training for leaders.
  • Counsel leadership in applying associate relations best practices, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with Global HR counterparts, particularly in South Korea, to support global programs and ensure alignment across cultures.
  • Adapt global initiatives to fit local practices and regulatory requirements while promoting global HR consistency.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor the HR team, including HR Managers and specialists in Benefits, Training, HRIS, and Recruiting.
  • Foster an environment of continuous improvement, accountability, and professional growth within the HR function.
  • Travel up to 1-2 times per quarter as needed.

Requirements

  • Seasoned HR professional with broad experience across multiple HR functions at major U.S.-based corporations, currently at Manager level or above.
  • Demonstrated people and organizational management experience, with direct leadership responsibility for teams of 10 or more.
  • Strong hands-on experience in HR operations, including talent acquisition, workforce management, executive HR, and organizational restructuring.
  • Proven ability to elevate and modernize HR ways of working, including processes, policies, systems, and operating models.
  • Capability to manage multiple HR workstreams, track progress across functions, and provide timely, structured reporting.
  • Prior experience working in Corporate/Headquarters HR at a major U.S. company.
  • Ability to make clear, accountable decisions grounded in professional expertise.
  • Preferred background in automotive and/or technology-driven companies.

Pay

$175,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year.
