About the role

Mentor A Promise is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Senior Director of Compliance & Ethics to lead the organization's compliance, regulatory affairs, ethics, and accountability programs. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance frameworks that support legal and regulatory obligations while fostering a culture of integrity throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead organization-wide nonprofit compliance efforts involving state charitable registrations, annual filing requirements, corporate compliance obligations, nonprofit governance requirements, regulatory reporting, and organizational compliance monitoring.
  • Oversee compliance related to state registrations, charitable solicitation requirements, state reporting obligations, regulatory agency correspondence, registration renewals, and multi-state compliance planning.
  • Support compliance involving IRS governance recommendations, federal nonprofit requirements, form 990 governance practices, tax-exempt organization standards, documentation requirements, and organizational transparency expectations.
  • Develop and oversee systems that monitor organizational compliance, assess policy adherence, review internal controls, identify compliance risks, support corrective action planning, and strengthen accountability systems.
  • Lead MAP's ethics and integrity initiatives by developing ethics policies, supporting ethical decision-making, providing ethics guidance, monitoring ethics concerns, promoting accountability standards, and supporting organizational culture initiatives.
  • Oversee ethics reporting channels, ethics hotline administration, confidential reporting procedures, case tracking systems, investigation coordination, and reporting protocols.
  • Manage and maintain whistleblower policies, reporting procedures, confidentiality protections, non-retaliation safeguards, documentation systems, and case management processes.
  • Develop and support training involving compliance awareness, ethics education, policy training, governance requirements, organizational accountability standards, and regulatory obligations.
  • Collaborate with Governance Leadership, PromisePeople, PromiseFinance, PromiseShield, Executive Leadership, and Board Committees to help identify, assess, and mitigate compliance-related risks.

Qualifications

  • Helpful experience may include nonprofit compliance, regulatory affairs, corporate compliance, ethics & integrity programs, internal audit, risk management, governance, public administration, legal operations, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong candidates often demonstrate compliance leadership experience, strong analytical skills, exceptional organizational abilities, sound judgment and discretion, policy and governance expertise, strong communication skills, and commitment to ethical leadership.
  • Experience within nonprofit, healthcare, education, legal, government, or highly regulated environments is highly valued.
