Job
Financial Crime & AML Compliance:
- Lead the second line of defense, establish global risk frameworks, translate laws into policies, and oversee partnerships with the first line.
- Design, build, and mature AML and FinCrime compliance frameworks, including policies, procedures, and controls.
- Act as the named Canadian AML Compliance Officer (CAMLO) and other required roles under PCMLTFA, AMLR, and other regulations.
- Maintain and enhance AML/ATF program requirements in Canada and other relevant jurisdictions.
- Own the transaction monitoring program, SAR/STR filing process, KYC/KYB standards, and third-party oversight.
- Partner with Trust & Safety and Payments teams to embed compliance in operational workflows.
- Translate global regulatory requirements into compliance obligations for Trust & Safety and Product teams.
- Monitor and disseminate global regulatory developments and advise on potential obligations.
- Submit required regulatory filings and ensure all external deadlines are met.
Content Moderation Compliance:
- Lead monitoring and interpretation of evolving regulatory requirements related to content moderation, including EU DSA and US state/federal frameworks.
- Translate regulatory requirements into actionable compliance obligations for Trust & Safety and Product teams.
- Oversee transparency reporting obligations and risk assessments, ensuring all deadlines are met.
Fundraising Law & Charitable Compliance:
- Develop and oversee compliance strategy for state charitable solicitation laws and fundraising disclosure requirements.
- Maintain state registrations, exemptions, and required filings.
- Monitor regulatory developments in charitable fundraising and share awareness of potential obligations.
Program Governance & Risk Preparedness:
- Architect, implement, and maintain a global risk assessment framework reflecting GoFundMe's regulatory exposure.
- Own preparedness activities, scenario planning, and tabletop exercises to stress-test cross-functional readiness for regulatory audits.
- Establish governance, QA, issue management, remediation, and examination-readiness processes for AML/FinCrime controls.
- Own development and delivery of compliance training and awareness programs for relevant teams.
Regulatory Engagement & External Affairs:
- Serve as the company's primary point of contact in engagements with regulators, law enforcement agencies, and legislative staff.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with key regulatory counterparts across state, federal, and international jurisdictions.
- Provide subject-matter expertise in industry forums, coalitions, and working groups.
Qualifications
- 12-15 years of compliance experience, including significant time in payments, fintech, financial services, or highly regulated technology companies.
- Deep subject-matter expertise in AML, BSA/ATF, and FinCrime across multiple jurisdictions, including hands-on experience with FINTRAC and TRACFIN.
- Strong working knowledge of Canadian AML/ATF requirements under the PCMLTFA, PCMLTFR, and FINTRAC guidance.
- Experience operating a FinCrime program across multiple regulatory regimes, with the ability to adapt controls to new jurisdictions.
- Senior-level experience serving as a named compliance officer (CAMLO, BSA Officer, or equivalent).
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain productive, strategic relationships with regulatory counterparts and engage directly with regulators at executive levels.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to represent the company credibly with external audiences.
- Proven track record of influencing executive leadership and driving cross-functional alignment on complex compliance strategies.
