Senior Director of Accounting - Revenue and Accounts Receivable

About the role

Reporting directly to the VP, Corporate Controller, and the SR. Director of Accounting for BayMark Health Services, Inc., the Sr. Director of Accounting is responsible for the accuracy of accounts receivable, bad debt expense and allowance for doubtful accounts. The role also includes the reconciliation of the data sets used to calculate bad debt by line of business, liaising with the external audit team, and supporting the annual budget process.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and support the reconciliation of accounts receivable in the general ledger to the aged balances across seven different EMR systems
  • Perform the triangle-of-truth reconciliation for both revenue and cash to triangulate accuracy between the various EMR systems, the G/L and the Company’s “Data Lake”
  • Respond to inquiries from the external audit team in a timely manner and meet audit deadlines
  • Record monthly bad debt entries by line of business by pre-determined close deadlines
  • Resolve complex accounting issues by performing GAAP research and documenting conclusions
  • Direct the activities of the department in the process of reviewing/approving/posting of monthly journal entries
  • Ensure proper balance sheet reconciliations
  • Support clinics by responding promptly and accurately to financial inquiries
  • Support the annual budget process through interface with Financial Planning & Analysis staff
  • Lead the annual financial audit process and special audits during the year
  • Ensure all monthly processes are documented with accurate and complete desktop procedures
  • Document and monitor internal controls and propose improvements where necessary
  • Ensure proper financial reporting for assigned G/L accounts in compliance with GAAP
  • Comply with BayMark policies and procedures, Compliance Policy and Code of Ethics
  • Conduct special projects and other duties, as assigned by management

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field of study
  • Seven (7) years of related work experience
  • Either CPA certification or two (2) years of related public accounting experience in audit with CPA in process
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Power user of Excel
  • Proficient in cleaning, restructuring, and consolidating massive datasets (200k+ rows) from disparate sources using Power BI
  • Experience working with Great Plains is a plus
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and possess strong analytical and organizational skills in managing multiple projects
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare accurate reports in a timely fashion
  • Ability to work independently, with little supervision
  • Ability to effectively direct and supervise
  • Ability to work effectively under stressful conditions
  • Exercise initiative and sound judgment and react with discretion under varying conditions
  • Compliance with accepted professional standards and practices
  • Initiative to take charge of unforeseen situations, solve problems and adjust to schedule changes
