About the role

The Senior Director, Interoperability is a senior leadership opportunity to define and execute a multi-year interoperability strategy within a rapidly evolving healthcare environment. Key responsibilities include shaping how clinical, operational, and administrative data is exchanged, improving data reliability, care quality, and organizational efficiency. This role combines strategic vision with hands-on execution across technology, clinical, operations, legal, data, and compliance teams.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience, including substantial experience leading leaders and building or scaling multi-function organizations with strong accountability and talent development.
  • Deep expertise in healthcare interoperability, including FHIR, HL7, C-CDA, health information exchange, EHR connectivity, and the integration of clinical, claims, and pharmacy data.
  • Proven experience delivering major regulatory and compliance initiatives, ideally involving FHIR/API-based healthcare interoperability programs and CMS interoperability requirements.
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory environment, including CMS interoperability rules, ASTP/ONC, TEFCA, and information-blocking requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to align diverse stakeholder groups around a common strategy, synthesize competing priorities, communicate decisions clearly, and drive organizational execution.
  • Experience negotiating and managing multi-million-dollar vendor relationships, evaluating vendor ecosystems, and developing commercially and operationally sound partnership strategies.
  • Experience representing an organization externally with healthcare providers, regulators, industry groups, or other influential partners.
  • Track record of creating and executing multi-year strategic roadmaps while maintaining sufficient attention to operational details and measurable results.
  • Strong data-driven, financial, and organizational skills, including experience with budgeting and financial modeling.
  • Genuine passion for healthcare data exchange, with the ability to move fluently between technical details, regulatory considerations, and long-term strategy.
