Senior Director, Indirect Tax

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Director, Indirect Tax to join the team of a leader in the Real Estate & Construction space. This role will guide the indirect tax function across a complex, multi-jurisdictional business, ensuring compliance, consistency, and strategic oversight. The Senior Director will partner closely with finance, operations, and integration teams to strengthen tax processes and support growth through acquisitions. This position also plays a critical role in optimizing tax technology and managing sales and use tax matters across the organization. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $160,000 – $200,000 annually Responsibilities Lead the indirect tax function across all business units and jurisdictions, setting strategic direction and priorities. Oversee high-volume sales and use tax compliance processes, ensuring accuracy and timely documentation. Drive the adoption and optimization of tax technology solutions, implementing process improvements for compliance. Provide leadership for acquisitions and integrations, assessing indirect tax processes and compliance status. Manage strategy and oversight for taxing jurisdiction audits and indirect tax inquiries. Direct the customer exemption certificate strategy, ensuring effective processes and systems. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, Business, or a related field; advanced credentials such as CPA, CMI, JD, or MST preferred. 9+ years of experience in indirect tax, including several years in a management role. 20 years of progressive leadership experience in a large, multi-state, multi-entity business. Proven experience with tax technology solutions such as Vertex and ERP integrations. Strong background in managing sales and use tax audits and indirect tax controversies.
