Senior Director, Head of Cybersecurity & Privacy Legal

Responsibilities
- Provide expert guidance on data security, cybersecurity, privacy, and compliance matters
- Lead the legal side of incident management and response
- Implement Privacy/Security by Design across the expanding platform
- Mentor the existing privacy team consisting of four experienced privacy lawyers
Requirements
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in the United States
- Significant experience managing cyber incident response
- Experience negotiating security and privacy components of complex commercial contracts
- Strategic guidance and recommendations for executive leadership on cybersecurity and privacy matters
- Experience with cloud architecture and data flow in a SaaS ecosystem
- A deep understanding of global privacy and AI laws, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, EU AI Act, and other international frameworks
- A pragmatic approach to law that prioritizes business enablement
Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience practicing law with a focus on data security, cybersecurity, and privacy
- Experience working with EU Works Councils and global regulatory agencies
- Experience with AI governance and machine learning data ethics
- Experience with risk mitigation frameworks and corporate governance models for the enterprise-wide deployment of generative AI, large language models (LLMs), and automated decision-making systems
- Relevant certifications such as CISM, CISSP, and/or CIPP

Pay
The base salary range for this role is $231,000 - $330,000 USD, excluding commission/ bonus/ equity (if applicable) + benefits.
Schedule
This role is Hybrid out of San Jose, CA Headquarters, but can be fully remote for the right candidate.
