About the Role

We are building something new. This is a first-of-its-kind role at PubMatic: a Senior Director of Marketing Operations who will build the measurement, planning, and budget discipline that demonstrates marketing impact to the business. PubMatic is transforming from a sell-side platform into a buyer-connected, artificial intelligence-driven performance advertising platform. That transformation requires marketing to evolve and measure its commercial impact with rigor and insight.

What we are seeking to build is proof, in a consistent, scalable, and instrumented way: a global planning process tying marketing plans to business outcomes, and a unified view of how the marketing budget is allocated, governed, and performing against results. This function makes every other marketing investment decision defensible and lets marketing become a true business partner to Finance, Sales, and the executive team.

Reporting directly to the CMO and partnering closely with Finance, Accounting, GTM, Sales Operations, and marketing leaders across every region and Center of Excellence, you will stand up the measurement, planning, and budget systems that enhance our performance-based marketing team. The role is NYC-based.

Responsibilities

As Senior Director, Marketing Operations, you will own four interconnected accountability areas that together give PubMatic marketing a single, trusted source of truth for performance, planning, and spend:

  • Marketing Measurement Framework: Partnering with the Growth Marketing leader, develop and instrument reporting connecting marketing activity to pipeline and revenue.
  • Global Marketing Planning Process: Partnering with region marketing leads, establish a consistent process for building global and regional marketing plans tied to business outcomes.
  • Marketing Budget Management: A unified budget structure and governance process run in partnership with Finance and Accounting.
  • Rhythm of Marketing Reporting: The recurring cadence and automated executive dashboards that keep marketing performance to goals measurable and visible.

Marketing Measurement Framework

  • Design and implement a marketing measurement framework that connects marketing programs to pipeline creation, pipeline progression, and revenue contribution.
  • Partner with Growth Marketing, Sales Operations, and IT to ensure Salesforce and Looker data integration supports reliable, auditable attribution reporting.
  • Establish and champion the discipline that investment follows measurement: every program should carry a defined success metric.
  • Develop marketing ROI reporting that marketing leaders trust and use, and stands up to business and executive review.

Global Marketing Planning Process

  • Partner with region marketing leads to create and implement a consistent global marketing planning process, spanning annual and quarterly cycles, that ties every global and regional plan to a defined business outcome.
  • Build and maintain a tiered prioritization framework that governs investment intensity levels.
  • Coordinate planning inputs and timelines across North America, EMEA, and APAC marketing leaders, Centers of Excellence, and Product Marketing to produce one coherent global plan.
  • Ensure plans translate cleanly into budget, headcount, and campaign execution, so strategy, resourcing, and spend are always in sync.
  • Own the planning calendar and cadence, refreshing plans quarterly against actual performance and evolving business priorities.

Marketing Budget Management & Optimization

  • Own the marketing budget and reporting process in true partnership with marketing leads, Finance, and Accounting.
  • Build a unified budget structure that gives full visibility across events, programs, technology, and headcount.
  • Support a monthly budget governance cadence covering variance reporting, spend versus plan, and reallocation recommendations grounded in performance data.
  • Partner with Finance and Accounting on forecasting, accruals, and vendor management so marketing's financials are clean, current, and audit-ready.

Rhythm of Marketing

  • In partnership with growth marketing, build and run marketing's rhythm of business: lead-to-pipeline-to-revenue reviews, KPI reviews, and dashboard reporting for the CMO and marketing leadership team.
  • Create and maintain the dashboard that connects marketing investment to pipeline and revenue outcomes in a single, always-current view.
  • Facilitate cross-functional alignment across Marketing, Finance, Sales Operations, Product, and Business Operations.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in marketing operations, marketing finance, or strategy/consulting, with a track record of building measurement and planning discipline inside a B2B organization.
  • Demonstrated experience building marketing measurement frameworks that connect marketing activity to pipeline and revenue.
  • Strong analytical depth, including genuine comfort with SQL and data visualization tools.
  • Salesforce expertise, including data architecture, lead and opportunity objects, and campaign attribution.
  • Experience managing a marketing budget process in partnership with Finance, including forecasting, variance reporting, and accrual support.
  • Exceptional executive communication skills, with the ability to translate data into clear, actionable recommendations for the CMO and leadership team.
  • BA/BS required; MBA or equivalent preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Multi-regional B2B marketing operations experience across North America, EMEA, and APAC.
  • Advanced attribution modeling or machine learning-based measurement experience.
  • Background in management consulting or corporate strategy.
  • Ad tech or programmatic advertising credibility.
