Senior Director, Global Formulation - Risk Management & Sourcing, Animal Nutrition & Health
Job Purpose and Impact
The Senior Director, Global Formulation – Risk Management & Sourcing, Animal Nutrition & Health (ANH) leads ANH’s global formulation capability and provides strategic leadership to the formulation organization. This role is accountable for building a high-performing global team, strengthening technical and leadership capability, and establishing the standards, tools, metrics, and ways of working required to deliver ANH’s business objectives.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide strategic leadership for ANH’s global formulation capability, establishing clear priorities, standards, governance, and ways of working that improve formulation speed, consistency, quality, and business value across markets.
- Own and continuously improve global formulation principles, including constraint management, least-cost versus performance tradeoffs, ingredient inclusion and substitution practices, product performance requirements, and escalation processes.
- Lead the adoption and value realization of Cargill Nutrition Cloud, Cargill Labeling Cloud, artificial intelligence-enabled capabilities, analytics, and other formulation tools in alignment with ANH RMS priorities.
- Partner with regional and in-market RMS leaders, Strategic Marketing and Technology, Digital Technology & Data, Operations, Quality, and other stakeholders to identify formulation priorities, remove execution barriers, and translate global capabilities into measurable local business outcomes.
- Lead global formulation programs that support Optimized Nutrition (ON), Nutrition, Formulation and Quality (NFQ), constraint management, nutritional matrix updates, cost competitiveness, and material margin growth.
- Establish and maintain global formulation metrics, dashboards, and governance routines to monitor performance, efficiency, and realized value.
- Integrate external market, technology, competitor, and industry perspectives into the global formulation strategy to ensure ANH continuously strengthens its competitive position.
- Lead a global formulation community of practice, including training, knowledge sharing, coaching, and mechanisms to rapidly scale best practices across markets.
- Define global formulation capability and proficiency standards, succession planning, and lead a forward-looking learning and development agenda.
- Represent Formulation on the Global RMS Leadership Team and in key cross-functional governance forums, ensuring clear communication, accountability, and follow-through on decisions and commitments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in animal nutrition, agricultural science, engineering, business, or a related field
- Minimum of eight years of related work experience in animal nutrition, feed formulation or formulation systems experience
- Minimum of five years of supervisory or leading experience with diverse global teams
- Confirmed experience in formulation policies, procedures and general understanding of animal nutrition industry practices and standards
- Proven ability to establish global standards, governance, metrics, and operating processes while enabling effective local execution
- Strong understanding of formulation economics, including the ability to balance nutritional performance, product integrity, ingredient availability, manufacturability, cost competitiveness, and margin
- Experience leading complex, cross-functional programs involving technical teams, business leaders, digital technology, operations, quality, and other stakeholders
- Able and willing to travel up to 10% globally
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in animal nutrition, agricultural science, engineering, business, or a related field
- Experience leading large-scale technology deployments, driving user adoption, and managing organizational change
- Experience applying advanced analytics, automation, optimization, or artificial intelligence to technical decision-making
- External industry exposure to formulation tools and practices, including Cargill Nutrition Cloud, Bestmix, Brill, or comparable formulation platforms
- Fluency in more than one language and experience working across multiple cultures and regions
Applicant Information
The expected salary for this position is $178,000 to $230,000. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific location, certifications, education, and level of experience. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. This position is eligible for a discretionary incentive award. The incentive award amount is dependent upon company performance and your personal performance. At Cargill we put people first.
