Senior Director, Global Commercial Logistics, Transportation, and Trade Compliance Manager

Responsibilities

  • Lead supply chain strategy to align warehouse, transport, and trade functions.
  • Own global budgets for freight, warehousing, and customs brokerage, ensuring disciplined cost management and optimization of spend.
  • Establish department KPIs regarding delivery on time metrics, cost per mile, and compliance.
  • Oversee and optimize global transportation networks across ocean, air, rail, and ground.
  • Lead contract negotiations with major freight carriers, third-party logistics (3PLs), and brokers.
  • Drive digital transformation through implementation and optimization of Transportation Management Systems (TMS), enhancing network visibility, routing efficiency, and freight audit capabilities.
  • Lead and enforce global trade compliance programs, including import/export regulations, sanctions screening, and tariff/classification management.
  • Serve as primary liaison to customs agencies and regulatory bodies worldwide.
  • Mitigate risk through audit programs, governance frameworks, and corrective actions ensuring classification accuracy and regulatory adherence.
  • Build and lead a high-performing global team; set direction, develop talent, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Commercial organization, Finance, Tax and Manufacturing to maintain and improve Logistics processes.
  • Lead cross-functional projects and process improvements related to drug transportation and trade compliance.
  • Establish and maintain global standard operating procedures (SOPs) to drive consistency, scalability, and compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or similar and 12+ years of progressive experience in Supply Chain required.
  • Master’s degree and 8+ years of progressive experience in Supply Chain preferably within the biotech, pharmaceutical, CRO, industry.
  • 5+ years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook), Advanced expertise in GTM systems, TMS architecture, and ERP platforms (e.g., SAP).
