About the Role

Cvent is seeking a strategic, high-impact Senior Director/Director, Corporate Communications to lead the development and execution of integrated communications programs that strengthen our brand, elevate our reputation, and connect our business strategy to key audiences. This role reports directly to the VP of Corporate Marketing and serves as a strategic communications partner to stakeholders across Cvent, including Demand Generation, Product Marketing, Product, Sales, and beyond.

This is an executive-facing role in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment with regular, direct contact with Cvent's senior leadership team, including C-suite executives. The successful candidate will own PR/media relations, social media, and internal communications, bringing demonstrated capability to support these functions as the business requires.

Responsibilities

  • Public Relations & Media Relations
    • Own and execute Cvent's PR strategy across all narratives: company announcements, product news, thought leadership, event coverage, executive visibility, and industry storylines.
    • Serve as the primary day-to-day manager for Cvent's US and European PR agencies, driving accountability, setting clear priorities, and measuring outcomes.
    • Direct agency efforts to build and maintain relationships with key journalists, editors, and contacts across technology, B2B, events, and business press.
    • Draft and edit press releases, bylines, op-eds, briefing materials, media FAQs, and spokesperson talking points.
    • Manage Cvent's corporate awards program: identifying opportunities, coordinating submissions, and tracking recognition across key publications.
    • Partner with Demand Generation, Product Marketing, Sales, and Client Services to identify newsworthy moments and translate business milestones into compelling media opportunities.
    • Track media coverage, report on outcomes, and continuously optimize agency performance and press outreach effectiveness.
    • Support crisis communications preparation and execution as needed, in partnership with the VP of Corporate Marketing and Legal.
    • Serve as the primary Corporate Communications point of contact for Cvent's India-based PR team, providing direction and oversight for APAC and MEA coverage.
  • Social Media
    • Lead Cvent's corporate social media strategy and editorial calendar across LinkedIn, X, and other key channels, ensuring brand voice consistency and alignment with campaign priorities.
    • Manage and develop the social team, setting quality standards and building a culture of creativity, experimentation, and measurement.
    • Drive executive social visibility for Cvent's senior leadership team, developing content strategies and post-level execution that build thought leadership.
    • Partner with Brand, Creative, Product Marketing, and Demand Generation to ensure social output reflects Cvent's brand identity and supports campaign goals.
    • Monitor social performance, report on engagement and share of voice, and make data-informed decisions to continuously improve.
    • Build and maintain an employee advocacy program that amplifies Cvent's brand through authentic colleague participation.
  • Internal Communications
    • Bring demonstrated experience in internal communications strategy and execution, with the ability to stand up or support this function as Cvent's needs evolve.
    • Partner with HR, Leadership, and Marketing to shape employee communications tied to major company initiatives, transformation efforts, and cultural moments.
    • Develop templates, playbooks, and editorial frameworks that enable consistent, on-brand internal messaging at scale.
  • Corporate Messaging & Executive Support
    • Own and maintain Cvent's library of corporate statistics, key proof points, and boilerplate messaging, ensuring all materials reflect current, approved figures and positioning.
    • Provide support for executive keynote preparation and high-visibility moments, including narrative development, slide messaging, and speaker prep.
    • Serve as a writing partner for senior leaders on external-facing content, including speeches, op-eds, and contributed articles.
    • Prepare and deliver executive-ready communications materials, including briefing documents, messaging guides, and talking points, on tight timelines.
    • Ensure all communications output aligns with Cvent's brand story and supports revenue marketing objectives.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, public relations, executive communications, brand storytelling, or related communications leadership roles.
  • 4+ years of people leadership experience with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated success creating and executing integrated corporate communications strategies in a complex, fast-moving organization.
  • Strong experience supporting executive communications, thought leadership, and senior stakeholder counseling, including the ability to work directly with and advise C-suite leaders.
  • Experience managing media strategy, PR programs, and reputation-building initiatives.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics into compelling narratives.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to connect communications strategies to broader company and market objectives.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and influence across functions and levels, serving as a trusted partner to stakeholders in Demand Generation, Product Marketing, Product, Sales, and beyond.
  • Strong project management and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple high-priority initiatives simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • High degree of executive maturity, judgment, discretion, and accountability.
  • Fluency in AI tools and a proactive mindset toward integrating AI into communications workflows.
  • Must be based in the DC metro area; hybrid role with regular in-person collaboration expected.

Qualifications

The following would offer a strong advantage:

  • Experience in B2B SaaS, enterprise technology, events, hospitality, or other fast-paced growth industries.
  • Experience supporting both internal and external communications programs within the same role or team.
  • Familiarity with social media management, employee advocacy, executive visibility, and content amplification strategies.
  • Experience leading change communications, transformation communications, or crisis/issues communications.
  • Multilingual communication capabilities or experience managing European media markets.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.

Leadership Profile

The successful candidate will be:

  • A strategic thinker who can translate business priorities into clear communications strategies.
  • An excellent storyteller who knows how to shape narratives for different audiences and channels.
  • A strong people leader who develops talent, drives accountability, and builds collaborative teams.
