Position Summary

Sam’s Club is building enterprise personalization as a core growth capability and seeks a Senior Director of Enterprise Personalization Strategy & Decisioning to lead the strategy, member signals and insights, Next Best Action (NBA) use cases and decision logic, and the guardrails ensuring personalization creates a strong member value exchange.

The Experience Insights & Transformation team drives Sam’s Club growth by transforming member, marketing, and business insights into actionable strategies that enhance loyalty, increase renewals, and support profitable growth. They leverage data strategy, machine learning, and collaboration to deliver impactful business solutions.

What you'll do

  • Set enterprise personalization vision and success metrics
  • Partner cross-functionally with Marketing, Merchandising, Operations, eCommerce, Membership, Data & Analytics, and Technology teams
  • Align and sequence the enterprise personalization roadmap
  • Define the member understanding foundation
  • Design and run causal learning loops
  • Own NBA use case definition and decision logic
  • Embed enterprise guardrails into decisioning
  • Institutionalize measurement and feedback
  • Drive enterprise-grade scalability
  • Cultivate an environment for Sam's culture of Member first, ownership & excellence in execution, human connection, and collaboration

What you'll bring

  • Proven ability to own and scale an enterprise decisioning capability
  • Strong literacy in member analytics, experimentation, and causal inference
  • Demonstrated experience designing decisioning frameworks
  • Ability to define and govern value exchange, eligibility, economics, and responsible personalization guardrails
  • Track record of building high-performing teams and operating rhythms

Minimum Qualifications

  • Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 7 years' experience in an analytics related field.
  • Option 2: Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 5 years' experience in an analytics related field.
  • Option 3: 9 years' experience in an analytics or related field. 3 years' supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Data science, machine learning, optimization models
  • PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Econometrics
  • Successful completion of one or more assessments in Python, Spark, Scala, or R
  • Supervisory experience
  • Using open source frameworks (for example, scikit learn, tensorflow, torch)

Additional Information

Minimum Salary Range: $160,000.00 - $320,000.00
Annual Performance Bonuses may be awarded based on individual and organizational performance.
