About the role

The Senior Director, DAG Client Solutions serves as the operating leader for DAG’s client delivery platform, with responsibility for the integrated operational, technical, staffing, and service delivery functions that support the practice’s client-facing work. You’ll lead the development of scalable, high-quality, defensible, innovative, and commercially effective solutions while bringing historically independent functions together as one integrated Client Solutions team.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of DAG leadership and advise practice leadership on delivery strategy, operating model, resource needs, service quality, risk, innovation, and execution priorities.
  • Develop and lead an integrated Client Solutions strategy that supports DAG’s core practice and emerging legal solutions and enables sustainable growth.
  • Translate strategic priorities into clear operating plans, decision rights, accountabilities, performance expectations, and measurable outcomes.
  • Build alignment and accountability across multidisciplinary teams and represent Client Solutions in significant practice and firm initiatives.
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve an integrated Client Solutions operating model spanning intake, scoping, staffing, workflows, matter handoffs, escalation, communication, closing, and knowledge transfer.
  • Maintain executive oversight of significant client and matter delivery issues, facilitating timely resolution of escalations and ensuring appropriate communication with lawyers, clients, and firm stakeholders.
  • Partner with DAG legal leadership and matter teams to align operational execution with legal strategy, client expectations, defensibility requirements, budgets, and timelines.
  • Capture lessons learned and successful approaches to drive continuous improvement across matters and teams.
  • Lead the Client Solutions people and organizational strategy, including structure, role clarity, workforce planning, succession planning, hiring, retention, training, career development, and performance management.
  • Lead and develop Client Solutions managers and functional leaders, establishing consistent management expectations and building leadership capacity across the organization.
  • Oversee capacity and staffing strategy, including demand forecasting, assignments, load balancing, cross-training, contingent staffing, and resource planning.
  • Monitor utilization, workload, productivity, skill coverage, and service demand and recommend changes to staffing, team structure, sourcing, or investment priorities.
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative, accountable, and high-performing culture that values legal judgment, technical excellence, project discipline, client service, and innovation.
  • Establish service delivery standards, quality controls, documentation, playbooks, and training that support accurate, consistent, secure, and defensible client service.
  • Partner with DAG legal leadership and relevant firm functions on legal defensibility, information security, data handling, confidentiality, records management, vendor risk, business continuity, and client requirements.
  • Ensure operational issues, errors, near misses, and client concerns are appropriately identified, escalated, remediated, and incorporated into continuous improvement.
  • Promote disciplined project management, change control, documentation, and communication across Client Solutions.
  • Lead operational execution of technology, development, and innovation priorities, aligning investments and solutions with client needs, quality, risk, scalability, and commercial value.
  • Collaborate with DAG leaders, firm technology teams, vendors, and other stakeholders to evaluate, pilot, implement, and scale technology, automation, analytics, and AI-enabled workflows.
  • Move new technologies and workflows from concept or pilot to repeatable, supportable, and measurable production use with appropriate controls and accountability.
  • Identify opportunities to improve speed, quality, consistency, client experience, and cost effectiveness while positioning Client Solutions as a strategic consulting partner to lawyers and clients.
  • Partner with practice leadership to identify and operationalize new service offerings, client solutions, cross-practice initiatives, and growth opportunities.
  • Partner with DAG leadership on financial planning, pricing strategy, budgeting, forecasting, profitability, and business planning by providing delivery assumptions, staffing models, resource requirements, and operational insights.
  • Evaluate scope, workflow, staffing, technology, timing, risk, and expected effort to support matter budgets, alternative fee arrangements, portfolio delivery models, and pricing proposals.
  • Monitor operational and financial performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, manage cost, increase scalability, and strengthen commercial results.
  • Define and monitor key performance indicators across service quality, capacity, utilization, productivity, client satisfaction, risk, financial performance, employee development, and adoption of new technologies and workflows.
  • Provide concise reporting and recommendations to practice leadership on performance, material risks, resource needs, trends, and priorities.
  • Build trusted relationships with DAG partners, lawyers, matter teams, clients, firm leaders, vendors, and other stakeholders involved in service delivery.
  • Participate in significant client pitches, RFPs, client reviews, and solution-design discussions, clearly communicating DAG’s capabilities, operating model, quality controls, and value proposition.
  • Partner across Business Operations, Finance, Pricing, Business Development, Human Resources, Technology, Information Security, Procurement, Risk Management, and other firm functions to advance Client Solutions priorities.
  • Develop an external industry presence, as appropriate, through writing, speaking, professional organizations, and educational opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 12 years of progressively responsible experience in eDiscovery, legal technology, legal operations, professional services delivery, managed review, data analytics, digital forensics, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of significant management, supervisory, or leadership experience, including experience leading managers and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated experience designing or improving scalable service delivery models, resource and capacity planning, quality controls, change management, and operational performance.
  • Experience working in a law firm, corporate legal department, legal services organization, technology-enabled professional services organization, or comparably complex client-service environment.
