About the role
The Senior Director, Corporate Payroll Operations will lead payroll shared services, ensuring timely processing of payroll for freelance and non-union employees in compliance with company policy and regulations. They will standardize and optimize processes, establish strategic partnerships, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Lead payroll operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing
- Standardize and optimize payroll processes
- Partner with Finance, IT, HR, and operational departments on business needs
- Manage escalations, guide corrective actions, and implement solutions
- Coach and develop a diverse team
- Identify and mitigate payroll risks, implementing necessary controls
- Coordinate payroll for international employees
- Provide excellent customer service, anticipating and solving issues
- Develop and maintain SOPs and flowcharts for payroll processes
- Maintain awareness of payroll legislation and coordinate compliance
- Communicate new payroll developments to employees and partners
- Adequately adhere to internal controls and SOX compliance
- Occasional travel required between New York City and Los Angeles
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience leading payroll and related processes for a large volume of employees, including a remote workforce
- Experience with software such as PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Smartsheet
- Outstanding people skills and ability to build and manage collaborative teams
- Proven track record of developing and delivering services to internal and external stakeholders
- Expert knowledge of FLSA, federal, state, and local wage and hour and tax regulations, with a focus on New York and California
- Comfortable handling complex or escalated situations
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills for process improvements
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder collaboration
Qualifications
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation (nice to have)
- Experience with cloud-based (SaaS) Payroll applications, specifically Workday (nice to have)

Benefits
Annual salary range: $179,000.00 - $220,000.00
