Position Summary

The Senior Director, Executive Communications and Strategy role at Walmart serves as the executive communications lead for two key leaders within the company, focusing on technology and product innovation. What you'll do

  • Lead executive communications strategy for Walmart’s Global Tech and Product leadership, including crafting speeches, presentations, messaging, and social content.

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to senior executives, helping them define their voice, shape priorities, and communicate with purpose and authenticity.

  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling stories that connect with associates, partners, and global audiences.

  • Lead and develop a content team focused on strategic tech/product communications, executive content, and special initiatives.

  • Develop event and visibility strategies that amplify key leaders on global stages, defining messages and formats that resonate with internal and external audiences.

About the team

The Tech & Product Communications team at Walmart leads strategic storytelling and executive engagement to connect global technology and product initiatives with the broader enterprise. This team supports senior leaders by crafting clear, impactful narratives that enhance Walmart’s reputation as an innovative company. Members collaborate across functions to develop and implement communication strategies, manage media relations, and drive thought leadership. The team fosters a culture of continuous improvement, leveraging data and insights to optimize messaging and engagement. It plays a critical role in shaping internal and external communications that advance business goals and strengthen stakeholder relationships worldwide.

What you'll bring

  • A trusted strategic advisor who can translate complex business and tech topics into stories people want to read and share.

  • A storyteller and strategist in one—equally comfortable writing, coaching, planning, and influencing.

  • Experience in tech communications or product storytelling—in-house or agency—with a background writing for senior executives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, or related field and 6 years’ experience in journalism, communications, or relevant area OR 8 years’ experience in journalism, communications, or relevant area.

  • 2 years’ supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct media experience.

  • Government or media relations experience in a Fortune 500 company.

  • Managerial experience running media components of political election or grassroots advocacy campaigns.
