Senior Director - Cardiovascular Services

Develops and implements high-level strategies and provides overall management of operations and resources for the Cardiovascular Services (CVS) areas. Collaborates with Inpatient CVS Directors and the CVS Director to develop, communicate, and implement a strategic plan to grow the CVS program in volume, breadth, and depth of services.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for outpatient (OP) operations of CVS, ensuring patient safety, meeting or exceeding national quality standards, and responsiveness to patients, families, and medical staff.
• Manages associates involved in daily operations for all outpatient departments, including clinical offices, device clinics, ECHO, and stress testing.
• Oversees financial management, human resource management, and revenue cycle for OP-CVS in accordance with corporate policies, regulatory guidelines, and statutes.
• Provides strong leadership to establish an OP-CVS that meets or exceeds national quality standards and ensures compliance with hospital, DNV, and other regulatory authorities.
• Collaborates with inpatient CVS directors and system leadership to facilitate and coordinate system-wide initiatives involving cardiovascular services.
• Creates a culture of high clinical and professional standards, family-centered care, and service to referring physicians.
• Supports physician co-Directors of CVS in developing the academic mission, including fellowship programs and continuous medical or clinical programs.
• Promotes research by physicians and clinicians through identification of grants and other funding to develop next-generation techniques and technologies.
• Prepares and administers an annual expense budget, capital request budget, and human resource utilization plan for OP services within CVS.
• Leads business plan development for new programs and services in collaboration with IP CVS directors.
• Builds and maintains strong professional and collegial relationships with medical staff, ancillary departments, and internal/external partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business, health care administration, or related field (required).
• Master's degree in health/hospital administration, business administration, or related field (preferred).
• Comprehensive knowledge of business principles, administration, organization, and management, with an in-depth understanding of key business issues in the healthcare industry.
• At least 5 years of progressive experience managing functions and departments in a clinical and/or business role, with knowledge of workflows and systems.
• Knowledge of business office operations, particularly third-party billing and reimbursement activities.
• Understanding of applicable regulatory requirements and their application to academic medical centers and physician practices.
• Proven skills in interpersonal relationships, planning, organizing, budget preparation, and leadership.
• Demonstrated ability to manage priorities, work in teams, educate others, and relate to all levels of an organization.
• Ability to comprehend complex subjects, motivate behavior changes, and translate technical/financial language for lay audiences.
• Experience planning, implementing, and monitoring processes in a complex healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of direct management responsibility for a clinical setting, including budget responsibility (preferred).
• Specific experience with cardiovascular services, practice management, practice management systems, financial management, and clinical management systems (preferred).
• Licensed registered nurse in the state of Tennessee (preferred).
• For non-Tennessee residents, Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire.
