Senior DevSecsOps Engineer
About the role
Thompson Software Solutions is seeking a Senior DevSecOps Engineer to support the development and deployment of end-to-end software for military aircraft platforms. This role plays a vital part in enabling secure, resilient, and scalable software delivery pipelines that directly support U.S. military aviation and national defense initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Develop, integrate, and test software products using a wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the software field.
- Collaborate with other software engineers, program development, and deployment teams to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
- Work on projects independently at times, and in a collaborative team environment with other software engineers, as well as other program development and deployment teams.
- Ensure secure DevSecOps pipelines for safety-critical, air-gapped environments.
- Manage containerization and Kubernetes (on-prem, disconnected operations).
- Manage build environment tools such as make, CMake, and Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform, Helm).
- Work within Linux (RHEL, Yocto, Buildroot) and manage Bitbucket & Gitlab.
- Lead cross-functional teams across engineering, security, and IT.
- Communicate and document complex technical designs effectively.
- Travel up to 10% of the time.
Requirements
This role requires a bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline, 5+ years of DevSecOps experience, Python & YAML experience, and proficiency with secure DevSecOps pipelines for safety-critical, air-gapped environments. Experience with containerization and Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, and Linux is preferred. Cross-functional leadership across engineering, security, and IT teams is also preferred.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must have a government security clearance for Active Secret Clearance. Continued eligibility for access to classified information is required throughout employment, as dictated by program needs.
Skills
- Proficient with Atlassian Tools (Confluence, JIRA, Bitbucket, etc.).
- Proficient with Ansible.
- Certified CI/CD integration with certification artifacts.
- Familiarity with secure networking and zero-trust architectures.
- Experience with embedded and real-time systems enablement (RTOS, flight software).
- Familiarity with DO-178 A-C.
