About the role

A Senior DevOps Programmer leads and works on the most complex IT applications design, documentation, development, modification, testing, installation, implementation, and support of new or existing applications software. This role may also plan, install, configure, test, implement, and manage a systems environment in support of an organization's IT architecture and business needs.

Responsibilities include analyzing and refining systems requirements, translating them into applications prototypes, designing systems architecture, writing and debugging code, determining output media/formats, designing user interfaces, testing applications with customers, ensuring software quality, integrating hardware and software components, and maintaining program documentation. The role also involves evaluating new technologies, ensuring information security, and supporting operating systems by analyzing requirements, selecting and validating environments, integrating components, monitoring performance, and evaluating new systems engineering technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and refine systems requirements and translate them into applications prototypes.
  • Plan and design systems architecture for both applications and operating systems.
  • Write, debug, and maintain code for new or modified applications.
  • Determine and design applications architecture and output media/formats.
  • Design user interfaces and work with customers to test applications.
  • Ensure software and systems quality and functionality.
  • Integrate hardware and software components within systems environments.
  • Write and maintain program documentation and evaluate new applications software technologies.
  • Ensure rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies.
  • Analyze systems requirements in response to business needs, risks, and costs.
  • Evaluate, select, verify, and validate systems software environments.
  • Install and configure compilers, assemblers, and utilities.
  • Monitor and fine-tune performance of systems environments.
  • Evaluate new systems engineering technologies and their impact on the operating environment.
  • Lead and design technical solutions for complex ERP systems and integrations (batch or real-time).
  • Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitHub, and ArgoCD.
  • Script in Python, Shell, Bash, or similar languages.
  • Work with Rancher, Kubernetes, and container orchestration.
  • Schedule batch jobs using tools like Control-M.
  • Perform secure file transfers with SFTP clients (e.g., FileZilla, WinSCP).
  • Compare files using utilities like Beyond Compare or Visual Studio Code.
  • Use monitoring tools such as Splunk for troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Collaborate with technical, business, infrastructure, and operations teams.

Requirements

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in electronic data processing systems study, design, and programming.
  • At least four (4) years of experience in a lead capacity.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience within the past five (5) years working with CI/CD pipelines, including scripting in Python, Shell, Bash, or similar languages, and hands-on proficiency with DevOps toolchains such as Jenkins, GitHub, and ArgoCD.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience within the past five (5) years working with Rancher, Kubernetes, and container orchestration, including familiarity with batch job scheduling tools like Control-M.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience within the past three (3) years supporting ERP applications, specifically CGI Advantage versions 3.11 and 4.x on Oracle databases, including working knowledge of IBM WebSphere/InfoSphere installation, patching, and SSL certificate renewal.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience within the past three (3) years working as a Linux/Unix systems administrator, including experience operating within a formal change control process.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related or Engineering field (additional qualifying experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis).
  • Knowledge and experience in applications software development principles and methods.
  • Experience with operating systems installation and configuration procedures.
  • Understanding of software design principles, methods, and approaches.
  • Familiarity with principles, methods, and procedures for designing, developing, optimizing, and integrating new and/or reusable systems components.
  • Knowledge of pertinent government regulations and infrastructure requirements (e.g., bandwidth, server sizing).
  • Experience with database management principles and methodologies, including data structures, data modeling, data warehousing, and transaction processing.
  • Understanding of systems engineering concepts such as structured design, supportability, survivability, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Proficiency in optimization concepts and methods.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with technical, business, infrastructure, and operations teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare effective reports.
