Senior DevOps Engineer
Role Overview
The Senior DevOps Engineer will lead and support DevOps initiatives across enterprise applications and backend systems. Responsibilities include designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and release processes; supporting cloud and hybrid-cloud infrastructure modernization efforts; improving system reliability, observability, monitoring, and operational efficiency; developing and maintaining infrastructure as code and automation frameworks; supporting application deployments, production troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives; designing, developing, and maintaining Java-based backend services and integrations; building and supporting RESTful APIs and distributed system integrations; collaborating with engineers, product teams, QA, DevOps, and client stakeholders in agile environments; participating in architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical planning activities; and contributing to software engineering and DevOps best practices across the program.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of software engineering, DevOps, platform engineering, or related experience and a Bachelor's degree, or equivalent additional experience in lieu of a degree
- Strong hands-on experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and cloud infrastructure
- Familiarity with modern DevOps and platform engineering tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or similar technologies
- Experience implementing infrastructure automation, containerization, and Infrastructure as Code practices in enterprise environments
- Experience supporting application deployment, release management, and operational excellence initiatives across software delivery teams
- 5+ years of hands-on Java development experience
- Strong experience with Spring Framework and RESTful web services
- Experience supporting enterprise applications in production environments
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills across application and infrastructure layers
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government clearance
- Ability to travel onsite to a NASA location for badging and program support

- Experience with platform engineering concepts, developer enablement, and internal developer platforms
- Experience implementing observability, monitoring, logging, and performance management solutions
- Familiarity with tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk, Datadog, or similar monitoring platforms
