About the role
The Senior Development Officer - Legacy Giving is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive planned giving program to secure future philanthropic support for Mercy Health Foundation.
Responsibilities
- Cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors who wish to make legacy gifts through wills, trusts, charitable gift annuities, and other planned giving vehicles.
- Serving as the subject matter expert on planned giving strategies.
- Working collaboratively with Foundation leadership, gift officers, and other stakeholders to integrate legacy giving into overall fundraising efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, with at least 3 years focused on planned giving.
- Strong knowledge of estate planning, tax law, and charitable giving vehicles.
- Prioritizing and executing complex gifts.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and strategically within a team environment.
