Senior Development Officer-Legacy Giving

About the role

The Senior Development Officer - Legacy Giving is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive planned giving program to secure future philanthropic support for Mercy Health Foundation.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward donors who wish to make legacy gifts through wills, trusts, charitable gift annuities, and other planned giving vehicles.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on planned giving strategies and work collaboratively with Foundation leadership, gift officers, and other stakeholders to integrate legacy giving into overall fundraising efforts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, with at least 3 years focused on planned giving.
  • Strong knowledge of estate planning, tax law, and charitable giving vehicles.
  • Proven ability to cultivate and close complex gifts.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and strategically within a team environment.
