Senior Developer

About the role

The Student Information Systems, Campus Integration Applications team is recruiting an experienced Senior Developer to lead the technical design and development of our enterprise-grade software solutions. This is a hands-on, senior-level role focused on modernizing university systems using a stack of NestJS, Angular, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL, while integrating cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence to automate and enhance student services.

Responsibilities

• Architecting & Developing: Designing, building, and deploying intricate, scalable software solutions using a modern stack of NestJS, Angular, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL.
  • Developing robust APIs to support system functionality.
• AI Integration: Integrating LLMs and AI APIs into production web applications to power features such as chatbots, semantic search, and recommendation engines.
• Technical Leadership: Providing technical direction on complex projects, establishing software specifications, and offering mentorship to junior developers.
• System Adaptability: Bridging the gap between modern infrastructure and legacy systems; adapting to support and maintain established enterprise applications as business needs dictate.
• Collaboration & Quality: Collaborating closely with various stakeholders, IT Solutions teams, and university constituents to facilitate the entire development lifecycle and deliver high-impact solutions.

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 3 - 7 years of experience using NestJS or NodeJS, Angular with Material and Typescript. Minimum of 3 - 7 years of experience deploying and managing applications on a major cloud platform preferably on Google Cloud Platform, but AWS or Azure are also acceptable. Minimum of 3+ years of experience utilizing Postgres or Mongo database. Minimum of 6 - 10 years of related experience. Minimum of 1 year of experience with AI web development and integrating AI/ML models or services into web applications via APIs.
• Qualifications: Advanced knowledge of secure software development. Highly advanced skills associated with software specification, design, modification, implementation and deployment of large-scale scope. Excellent project leadership and management skills. Demonstrated ability to understand functional needs and how systems can support those needs. Demonstrated ability to develop conversion and system implementation plans. Advanced experience with identification and use of code libraries and open-source forums. Advanced experience with planning for deployment and creation of feedback mechanisms. Demonstrated software repository skills. Experience developing and executing complex test plans. Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines. Demonstrated complex problem-solving skills. Current working knowledge of the Ellucian Banner Student Information System or Student Information System. Advanced knowledge of NestJS & NodeJS, TypeScript, PostgreSQL and Mongo database.

Qualifications

• Education: Degree Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

Benefits

This position is classified as predominantly remote with occasional visits to campus as needed. Working hours will be based on Pacific Standard Time (PST).

Pay

The full salary range for the Senior Developer is $93,200 - $174,200 annually. However, the pay scale for this position is up to $131,208 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
