About the Role
Floor & Decor Sr. Designers lead the design team and provide a seamless, start-to-finish consultative design service that builds lasting relationships and brand loyalty with customers. In this role, you will meet with customers, listen to their project needs, educate them on all aspects of their project, and create design concepts that reflect their personal style, lifestyle, and budget.
Requirements
- Design education (BA or AA in Interior Design) or 6 years of interior design experience in lieu of formal education or a combination of education and experience equal to 6 years
- Prior retail/sales experience preferred
- Knowledge of hard surface flooring is a plus
- Proficient in basic mathematical skills
- Self-motivated and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office suite
- Internal candidates must have 24 months of experience in a Floor & Decor Designer position
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain lasting relationships with residential and professional customers
- Greet store customers and support walk-in design needs
- Schedule design appointments for existing and potential customers while developing clientele through networking, referrals, and in-store leads
- Provide tile, wood, stone, and accessories advice for residential and commercial projects
- Design and sell complete, functional, and aesthetically appealing solutions
- Manage multiple customer projects simultaneously with high accuracy, timeliness, and follow-up, including consistent communication
- Use company communication tools and emails proficiently and consistently
- Collaborate with store leadership and employees to manage projects from inquiry to installation and achieve sales goals
- Model and coach best practices to support company initiatives and goals
- Stay current with emerging design trends in your market
- Utilize design applications such as Salesforce, proprietary Online Design Appointment Scheduler, and MyProject
- Participate in local professional affiliations like ASID, NKBA
- Perform other duties as assigned
Working Conditions
- Limited travel may be required by car
- Frequent exposure to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles
- Moderate to noisy work environment
Physical & Sensory Requirements
- Medium Work – Ability to exert 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, 10-25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly
- Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle or feel
- Occasional standing, walking, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
Schedule
- Store Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM, Saturday 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM, Sunday 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
- Pickup Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, Saturday 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM, Sunday 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
