This is a virtual position with up to 25% onsite presence required at customer sites concentrated in the New England region (primarily Boston, Hartford, and Stamford). Residing in or relocating to this region is required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex engagements, working directly with clients and project teams to develop budgets, timelines, and manage expectations.
  • Negotiate changes in deliverables and schedules; serve as an escalation point for engineering issues.
  • Conceptualize system designs and determine system requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise and coordination for audio, video, and control solutions, including base building tasks.
  • Oversee and/or develop the Bill of Materials (BOM) and supporting documentation.
  • Develop detailed design documentation based on established engineering standard practices.
  • Track engineering team tasks to completion.
  • Generate functional system descriptions, block wiring diagrams, rack elevations, custom plates, or cabling assemblies.
  • Research, identify, and recommend technology options for clients and projects.
  • Provide technical expertise and oversee the creation and reconciliation of construction drawing packages, supporting documentation for installation, and coordination with architects and other trades.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and product teams to identify requirements for cloud-based solutions for live broadcast production and post-production workflows.
  • Design and architect cloud-based solutions for live broadcast production workflows, channel playout, and content delivery.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to optimize solutions for cost, performance, and reliability.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other team members.
  • Build complex networking infrastructure on premises.
  • Test, commission, and configure subsystems during project deployment.
  • Support projects and teams in the build phase.
  • Complete as-built drawings for service hand-over.
  • Provide regular project engineering milestone status updates to Technical Operations resource planning.
  • Maintain expertise in the industry through ongoing review of trade publications, participation in industry trade shows, seminars, and educational forums.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and MS Office 365.
  • Certifications or training with at least one DSP platform (Biamp, QSC, Clearone, etc.).
  • Certifications or training with at least one control system (Crestron, Extron, AMX, etc.).
  • AVIXA CTS certification is required.
  • 8+ years’ experience in technical systems designing.
  • Familiarity with audio DSPs, networked audio systems, and transport protocols including 2110-30, AES-67, Ravenna, and Dante.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP, ACL’s, QoS, VLAN’s, and Wireless Access Points.
  • Proven track record of successfully completing engineering projects.
  • A clear understanding of construction project phases: Program, Conceptualization, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documentation, Construction, and Commissioning.
  • Valid driver’s license in state of residence; occasional travel by car and airplane required (local travel up to 2 hours each way makes up 90% of travel, with remote travel up to 30% at times).

Preferred Qualifications

  • AVIXA CTS-D certification is highly desired.
  • Detail-oriented, independent, self-starter with exceptional time management skills and a track record for meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to analyze complex issues and communicate concise messages.
  • High level of problem-solving and technical troubleshooting skills.

Pay

Our compensation ranges reflect the cost of labor across several US geographic markets, from our lowest to highest. Pay is based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, including medical, financial, and other benefits.

Schedule

  • Work is normally performed within normal office conditions and/or home office, with occasional exposure to construction site conditions.
  • Use of PPE is required on job sites.
  • At least 50% of time may be spent on feet and mobile around construction sites.
  • Regular use of keyboards, test equipment, and controls required for system installation projects.
