Senior Design Engineer

About the role

Our client is a leading provider of high-performance AC and brushless DC Fans, Blowers, and Cooling Systems for the aerospace and defense industries. The Senior Design Engineer supports the design, development, and testing of various types of electric motors, including both brushless DC and AC induction motors. The role involves translating technical information into basic terms and effectively communicating them to the build and test teams.

Responsibilities

• Support new designs, continued improvements, and engineering changes
• Work with minimal supervision and act as a self-starter
• Learn and apply new skills where technical accuracy is important
• Provide technical support for Marketing/Sales, Production, and Program Management
• Support warranty and product failure reviews, documenting corrective actions
• Develop technical reviews, approve drawings, BOMs, test plans, and reports
• Summarize and present work to management and cross-functional teams
• Evaluate and test materials, parts, and overall product performance

Requirements

• BS and/or MS in Electrical, Mechanical, or related engineering degree
• 8+ years of relevant experience in an AS 9100 quality system manufacturer
• Motor design experience and test support for high-performance cooling fans, blowers, or similar equipment
• Expertise in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
• Expertise in stator & rotor assemblies, motor assembly, and subcomponents
• Strong foundation in electromagnetics, including:
  • Single and three-phase AC induction motors
  • Pulse width modulated brushless DC (BLDC) motors
• Material knowledge in electrical steel, magnets, housing, copper, aluminum, etc.
• Military and commercial aerospace experience (preferred)
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
• US Citizenship required

Pay

Annual salary range: $130,000 – $155,000 USD
