Roles & Responsibilities
- Responsible for leading the design, development, and documentation of low- and medium-voltage switchgear and power distribution systems, while providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, customer requirements, and MCM quality standards.
- Technical Leadership: Serve as a technical resource and mentor for Design Engineers and Engineering Interns.
- Provide guidance on complex design challenges, protection schemes, control circuits, and customer requirements.
- Provide peer reviews of the engineering deliverables of less experienced engineers.
- Review engineering deliverables for technical accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company standards.
- Support engineering training and knowledge sharing initiatives.
- Aid in developing and maintaining engineering standards, templates, and best practices.
- Lead the design and development of complex electrical switchgear systems including general requirements, elevation and plan views, one-line diagrams, schematics, and control circuits.
- Lead the selection and specification of electrical components and provide guidance on component application, coordination, and compliance with project requirements.
- Create and revise engineering drawings using CAD software (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical).
- Ensure designs comply with relevant standards (e.g., IEC, ANSI, UL, IEEE).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical designers, project managers, and manufacturing teams.
- Review and interpret customer specifications and provide technical input during submittal, production, and post-shipment phases.
- Participate in customer technical review meetings and provide engineering expertise during project execution.
- Support resolution of technical issues during manufacturing, testing, commissioning, and post-shipment activities.

- Experience & Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred) or related engineering discipline.
- 7+ years of experience in switchgear or power distribution equipment design.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex projects from concept through manufacturing and testing.
- Experience reviewing and approving engineering deliverables.
- Experience mentoring or training engineers.
- Advanced understanding of low- and medium-voltage systems (up to 38kV).
- Advanced understanding of electrical protection and control systems.
- Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and Microsoft software.
- Knowledge of relevant electrical standards (IEC, IEEE, UL, NEMA, etc.).
- Hands-on experience in manufacturing, testing, commissioning, or field service of switchgear (preferred).
