About the role
Eaton Aerospace in Glenolden, PA has an opening for a Senior Design Engineer for lubrication system condition monitoring and fluid accessories product design and evaluation. The primary function of the position is design work and project engineering support for both sustaining products and new product development.
What you'll do
- Provides engineering solutions that meet customer performance requirements, interface details, reliability, cost and schedule requirements.
- Works with customers to define explicit non-ambiguous requirements.
- Provides technical direction for assigned projects from initial concept phase to product delivery.
- Understands mechanical, electric-mechanical systems and robust design methods.
- Responsible for concept layout, modeling, detailing, release and change management of drawings in configuration control system.
- Ensures compliance to quality system requirements.
- Establishes technical requirements for fabricated and procured components.
- Selects materials, finishes, processes, dimensions and GD&T to meet the design intent.
- Works closely with manufacturing and quality engineers, customers, and suppliers.
- Visits suppliers and customers as required.
- Performs mechanical design tasks for casted, machined, and plastic/metallic additively manufactured components.
- Works with manufacturing and external suppliers to optimize design decisions.
- Designs electromechanical sensor packaging with CAD component modeling, assembly and BOM structure creation, and production drawings.
- Works with other Eaton teams to perform structural static and dynamic analyses, thermal and fluid dynamics analyses, and other engineering analysis methods to verify compliance.
- Manages and releases drawings, models and documentation through Eaton's product lifecycle management system.
- Develops plans for design verification and validation testing for design compliance.
- Provides support in the testing environment.
- Implements product improvement and cost reduction initiatives by evaluating engineering change requests.
- Supports sales and marketing in generation of proposals and responses to customer inquiries.
- Designs fluid flow products and fixturing with substantiation of design choices based on fluid mechanics concepts.
- Designs, builds, and tests engineering prototypes for proposals and internal research and development projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical / Mechanical / Aerospace).
- Minimum five years of demonstrated experience in mechanical design, CAD modeling, drawing creation, and GD&T.
- Eaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position. Preferred qualifications
- Aerospace / Automotive / Electronics/ Medical device industry experience preferred.
- Preferred electric-mechanical and PCB design experience.
- Demonstrated experience in seal design, material assessment and design for manufacturability.
- Experience with manufacturing processes, product testing, stress analysis, magnetic properties, fluid dynamics, and thermal analysis preferred.
Skills
- Working knowledge of electro-mechanical design principles.
- Strong product design ability (Both new product & product modification).
- Knowledge in engineering report and specification writing.
- Thorough knowledge of product applications, product design techniques, engineering processes, and engineering standards.
- Communicates effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal peers.
- Well organized and detail oriented in preparation for design approvals.
- Capable of developing conclusions from analyses and applying results to support project team's activities.
- Demonstrates ability to clearly explain and discuss drawings, engineering analyses, and manufacturing processes.
- Up to 10% travel.
Pay
The expected annual salary range for this role is $86,000 - $126,000 a year.
