Responsibilities
- Conducts engineering studies on design for products, associated and subsystems components, and structures.
- Analyzes engineering proposals, process requirements, and related technical data pertaining to design.
- Applies engineering principles to design, modify, or develop facilities, testing, machines, equipment, or processes.
- Creates and releases Engineering Drawings, Bills of Material (BOM’s), ASME calculations and Routings.
- Analyzes data to determine feasibility of product proposal; analyzes product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs that can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods.
- Develops custom procedures as needed.
- May determine feasibility of designing new plant equipment or modifying existing facilities considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning, and other technical and economic factors.
- Confers with research personnel to clarify or resolve problems and develops design, design modifications as required.
- Prepares or directs preparations of product or system layout and detailed drawings and schematics; coordinates manufacturing or building of prototype product or system.
- Plans and develops experimental test programs; prevents or eliminates defects in new or existing products, evaluates results.
- Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
- Studies engineering and technical publications to keep abreast of technological changes and developments in industry.
- Completes work ‘on-time’ and within budget.
- Ensures product fit, form and function meet customer requirements.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
- At least 5+ years of experience with electrical/control design engineering, including PLC programming, is required.
- Working knowledge of PC software applications; AutoCAD experience required, Solid Modeling and 3D Design preferred.
- Proven working experience presenting data findings to the broader organization (employees, managers, and industry peers) while communicating the next best steps for the business.
- Working experience with system-specific pressure vessel, piping, pump, fluid transfer, and heat transfer design experience.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as heavy equipment manufacturing, welding technology, control panel, materials technology, manufacturing methods technology.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- ASME (Section VIII & Section I), PED, ATEX, NEC, NACE, ANSI, and TEMA code experience and familiarity preferred.
