Senior Design Engineer - AI-Native Product Systems

User Research and Prototyping

• Own user research, interviews, usability testing, and user personas
• Translate user needs into clear product flows, prototypes, and production experiences
• Rapidly prototype new products, workflows, and interaction patterns

Design and Development

• Build production-quality UI components and interactions across desktop and mobile
• Own accessibility standards and ensure inclusive experiences across the product
• Embed within the frontend team and increase its design and development velocity
• Create tools and guardrails that help engineers and PMs build polished interfaces with AI
• Identify and improve confusing or inconsistent experiences without waiting to be asked

Design System and Tools

• Own and expand the design system, component library, patterns, tools, and guardrails
• Build and scale Tassel’s design system, component library, and frontend patterns

Product and Engineering Collaboration

• Partner with Product and Engineering from discovery through production

Key Qualifications:

• You are equally comfortable interviewing users, working in Figma, and writing frontend code
• You have strong frontend skills with React, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS
• You have strong product design, interaction design, visual design, and HCI fundamentals
• You have experience conducting user research and turning insights into product decisions
• You understand accessibility standards and know how to apply them in design and code
• You have shipped polished products and know what it takes to get from 90% to 100%
• You can prototype ideas in hours, not days
• You think in systems and build reusable, maintainable components
• You independently notice problems, improve them, and push fixes into production
• You actively use AI coding agents and emerging development tools
