Senior DBA Consultant (SQL Server / Oracle / Exadata)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior DBA Consultant with strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server and working knowledge of Oracle/Exadata environments. The ideal candidate will independently manage database administration activities, troubleshoot complex production issues, optimize database performance, and support high-availability enterprise environments. Experience with Oracle and MariaDB is preferred, and training will be provided if needed.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain enterprise SQL Server and Oracle databases.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve performance, space, connectivity, login, and job failures.
• Perform database backup, recovery, maintenance, and security administration.
• Configure and support High Availability environments including Always On, Clustering, Replication, and Mirroring.
• Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances, SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS.
• Develop and optimize T-SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and database objects.
• Support database migrations, upgrades, and infrastructure improvements.
• Collaborate with application teams to resolve production issues.
• Participate in after-hours on-call rotation, including nights and weekends.
• Recommend automation opportunities and modern database technologies to improve operational efficiency.

Requirements

• 8+ years of Database Administration experience
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2012–2023)
• Experience with Oracle Database and Exadata (preferred)
• Strong knowledge of Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, Backup & Recovery
• Experience with SQL Server Always On, Clustering, Replication, Mirroring, HA/DR
• Expertise in T-SQL, Stored Procedures, Triggers, Views, and Query Analysis
• Experience with SSIS, SSRS, SSAS
• Good understanding of DMVs, SQL Traces, and performance troubleshooting
• Hands-on experience with PowerShell scripting
• Experience with Idera SQL Diagnostic Manager
• Knowledge of SQL/Oracle licensing is a plus
• Experience supporting production environments and ticket management
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
