About the role

We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator for a full-time, remote opportunity based in Montreal. This role focuses on managing and optimizing modern database systems including MySQL and PostgreSQL, along with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform.

Responsibilities

• Manage and optimize modern database systems including MySQL and PostgreSQL
• Collaborate with engineering teams to support global applications
• Play a key role in performance optimization, automation, and database architecture
• Hands On: 70%
• Management Duties: 10%
• Team Collaboration: 20%

Requirements

• 5+ years of DBA experience
• Strong expertise in MySQL or PostgreSQL
• Advanced SQL knowledge (DDL, DML, DCL)
• Experience with RDBMS and NoSQL databases
• AWS or GCP experience
• Linux proficiency
• Experience with performance tuning, replication, and high availability
• Experience with Terraform, Puppet, or similar tools
• Scripting (Bash or Python)
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix)
• Experience with sharding or partitioning
• Leadership or mentoring experience
