Senior Database Administrator (Remote)

Designs, implements, and maintains databases with respect to access methods, access time, batch processes, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods. Performs day-to-day administration and maintenance of transactional databases, ensuring availability, performance, and security. Handles complex installations, upgrades, patching, backup and recovery, performance tuning, security, monitoring, and configuration. Collaborates with managers to address database problems and capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Implement designs and structures provided by Systems and Data Architects.
  • Perform installation of complex, clustered, and high-availability software and hardware environments in a timely manner.
  • Create and maintain schedules for software maintenance and upgrades.
  • Coordinate software user/acceptance testing activities for new installations and upgrades.
  • Develop and implement techniques to prevent system problems, troubleshoot incidents, and support root cause analysis.
  • Provide project management support for technical aspects of project release upgrades, including project life cycle, planning, documentation, and resolution within deadlines.
  • Support application development for development teams.
  • Administer database environments supporting development and production.
  • Maintain data in database environments, including defining backup and recovery requirements.
  • Transform and load data into databases.
  • Carry out version control processes and analyze legacy system data.
  • Assist in guiding and mentoring less experienced staff; may lead a team of matrixed resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field OR an additional 4 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 5 years of experience performing full data management duties, including migration and continuous integration/delivery.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric and Power BI, including report development, semantic models, data pipelines, dashboards, and end-to-end data solutions.
  • Experience administering Microsoft Power Platform and SharePoint, including Power Apps development and workflow automation using Power Automate.

Skills

  • Knowledge of Oracle, DB2, MS SQL Server, and similar databases.
  • Strong communication skills with analysts, developers, testers, and project managers.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • High-level analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL).
  • Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands while maintaining service excellence.
  • Effective communication and positive customer service skills for internal and external customers.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $99,000 - $196,625. The range considers factors such as scope, responsibilities, candidate experience, education/training, internal peer equity, and market/business considerations. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range.
