Senior Data Governance Lead

The organization is a boutique data and AI consultancy that delivers enterprise‑grade solutions, focusing on modern data platforms, analytics, and machine learning/AI agent solutions for mid‑market and enterprise clients across private equity, financial services, healthcare, and retail. Technologies used include Databricks, Snowflake, dbt, and the Microsoft ecosystem.

This Senior Data Governance Lead position is a part‑time advisory role during weeks 2‑18 of a 26‑week enterprise data warehouse implementation for a global commodities trading and supply chain company. The role’s purpose is to design and implement a data governance framework for a Microsoft Fabric platform that consolidates fragmented legacy data across multiple systems and domains, with high influence on the production environment of a modern data architecture.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement the enterprise data governance framework across OneLake and Fabric workspace layers, including cataloging, lineage, ownership, and access control.
• Define and enforce data cataloging standards for Bronze, Silver, and Gold assets such as Lakehouse tables, Warehouse objects, and Semantic Model entities.
• Establish end‑to‑end data lineage tracking from source systems through transformation layers to final reporting products.
• Develop and apply data quality rules and validation frameworks integrated with Fabric pipeline execution.
• Define naming conventions, data classification standards, and workspace‑level access control policies aligned with Fabric governance capabilities.
• Collaborate with SAP S/4HANA and CTRM integration teams to document source‑system metadata and lineage for key data domains.
• Develop and lead master data management strategies for shared entities across trading, finance, and logistics domains.
• Produce governance documentation, data stewardship process guides, and training materials for data owners and analysts.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or data architecture with production governance framework implementations.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure or Fabric governance capabilities; Microsoft Purview expertise is a strong advantage.
• Strong background in data lineage, metadata management, and data quality frameworks at enterprise scale.
• Familiarity with financial or commodity trading data domains and multi‑source, cross‑domain governance complexities.
• Experience defining stewardship processes and collaborating with business owners to operationalize governance policies.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical, data, or business field or equivalent experience.

Preferred qualifications

• Hands‑on Microsoft Purview experience.
• Data governance certification (e.g., DAMA CDMP).
• Experience in financial services or commodity trading data environments.
• Background in master data management with ERP and CTRM systems.

Pay

$5,500 – $6,500 USD monthly.
