About the role

The Investments and Capital Markets (I&CM) division at Freddie Mac is seeking a Data Governance Senior to join the I&CM Information and Technology Risk Governance Team (first line of defense). The successful candidate will perform data governance and compliance activities, collaborating closely with I&CM key partners and regularly engaging with I&CM Business and Technology Office (BTO) personnel to monitor compliance with information risk policies, standards, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Govern information and technology risk and implement data governance in the I&CM division.
  • Evaluate and assess the information risk profile for the division.
  • Influence and partner across I&CM to mature data management practices.
  • Drive efficiencies within I&CM’s data ecosystem.
  • Champion the value of information (data) as a strategic business asset in I&CM.
  • Craft strategies around data quality and implementation of metadata and information governance.
  • Create and maintain processes and procedures to align with divisional and enterprise standards related to data governance.
  • Support the identification and management of I&CM’s critical data.
  • Execute the data governance framework daily, focusing on improving data quality, issue management, and protecting sensitive data through appropriate procedures and controls.
  • Partner with I&CM, I&CM BTO, and Enterprise functions to develop and implement effective strategies related to information risk management and governance.
  • Develop management reporting related to information risk.
  • Manage the I&CM Community in Collibra, including:
    • Compliance with Enterprise requirements for metadata capture, including data lineage.
    • Timely maintenance of information and relationships between processes, applications, business terms, trusted sources, and physical locations.
    • Development and maintenance of workflows.
    • Coordination with other divisions on metamodel changes.
  • Serve as the I&CM Divisional Chief Data Officer (DCDO) representative on Enterprise Business Model (EBM) Action Teams, providing data governance oversight throughout the Application Business Model (ABM) lifecycle from design through approval.
  • Explore and use Artificial Intelligence tools and techniques to automate processes and improve team efficiency.

Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of information risk/data governance experience within the financial services industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in IT, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of AI tools and technologies, with a strong commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with advancements in artificial intelligence.
  • Experience defining and detailing business processes and information flows, including metadata and data lineage.
  • Proven understanding of industry-standard processes related to information risk management.
  • Experience crafting and maintaining operational policies, standards, and procedures related to managing information risk and data governance.
  • Hands-on data experience, which may include reporting, Collibra, or other data tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Alteryx.
  • Working knowledge of cloud technology (AWS) is helpful.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working with Agile methodologies and APIs is a plus.

Pay

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $105,000–$157,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors, including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity, and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
