About the Opportunity:The SENIOR DATA ENGINEER - API & AI GATEWAY PLATFORM ENGINEER role involves designing, developing, and supporting enterprise API and AI gateway platforms. This position leads architectural decisions and platform strategy, mentors engineers, and ensures consistent delivery, governance, and operational excellence of API and AI gateway solutions. The role contributes significantly to advancing secure and scalable integration infrastructures within the organization. Responsibilities:Lead design and architecture of enterprise API and AI gateway platforms aligned with standards and scalability.Build and manage scalable API proxies and services for REST and SOAP integrations.Implement API security frameworks including OAuth, JWT, API key management, and mTLS.Develop and maintain AI gateway services.Enforce API governance standards such as versioning and lifecycle management.Support deployments across multi-cloud and hybrid environments.Develop CI/CD pipelines and automation for API and AI gateway management.Configure API traffic policies to optimize performance and reliability.Monitor API performance and resolve related issues.Integrate APIs with backend systems and enterprise platforms.Participate in migration from legacy to cloud-native or hybrid API solutions.Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and data privacy requirements.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop scalable API solutions.Provide operational support including incident response and troubleshooting.Maintain platform documentation and onboarding materials.Support innovation initiatives evaluating new API and integration technologies. Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science, IT, health science, or related field with at least five years of relevant experience; or Associate’s degree with seven years of experience.Ability to manage multiple projects and stay current on industry trends.Strong interpersonal, time management, analytical, and communication skills.Advanced SQL skills; proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, PHP, C++, or Java.Experience with hybrid data processing methods like Apache Spark, Hive, Pig, Kafka.Knowledge of big data, statistics, and machine learning.Proficiency with Linux and Windows operating systems.Preferred experience with workflow scheduling (Apache Airflow, Google Composer), infrastructure as code (Kubernetes, Docker), CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions), DataOps/DevOps, agile methodologies, and virtualization technologies like Denodo.Preferred working knowledge of Tableau, Power BI, SAS, ThoughtSpot, DASH, d3, React, Snowflake, SSIS, and Google Big Query.Google Cloud Platform certification preferred.Experience designing, deploying, or operating API management platforms or gateways, with Apigee X preferred.Strong cloud-native infrastructure and container platform experience.
