About the role
The Senior Data & Analytics Engineer at Verity is a hybrid position located in Seattle, WA. Verity is a member-owned credit union founded in 1933 and part of the Global Alliance for Banking on Values (GABV).
Responsibilities
- Data Platform & Architecture Design, build, and evolve the enterprise data warehouse and analytics architecture
- Develop scalable data models, semantic layers, and curated datasets
- Build and manage data pipelines integrating core banking, lending, and operational systems
- Define and implement standards for data modeling, performance, and reliability
- Evaluate and recommend tools, platforms, and architecture improvements
- Implement data observability practices, including monitoring, alerting, and data freshness validation across pipelines and systems
- Establish and manage development, testing, and production environments, including deployment and release processes
- Analytics & Business Intelligence
- Develop and deliver executive dashboards, KPIs, and operational reporting using Power BI
- Translate business questions into actionable, data-driven insights
- Enable self-service analytics with standardized and certified reports
- Improve consistency and trust in reporting across the organization
- Maintain and monitor adoption and usage of reporting tools and continuously improve usability and relevance of dashboards
- Business Partnership & Strategy
- Partner with leaders across Retail, Lending, Finance, Risk, and Operations to prioritize initiatives and maintain a data and analytics roadmap aligned with business goals
- Gather and translate business needs into technical solutions and data products
- Act as a trusted advisor on data strategy, opportunities, and best practices
- Help drive a data-informed culture across the organization
- Drive adoption of analytics solutions by enabling stakeholders and promoting data literacy across teams
- Governance, Security & Compliance
- Establish and maintain data governance, quality, lineage, and documentation standards
- Support audit and regulatory reporting requirements (NCUA/DFI/Compliance)
- Ensure secure handling of sensitive member and financial data
- Apply access controls and least-privilege principles
- Ensure compliance readiness through structured data documentation, traceability, and audit support processes
- Continuous Improvement
- Automate manual reporting processes
- Improve platform reliability and reduce technical debt
- Recommend modern tools and best practices
- Support audits and regulatory reporting requirements
- Evaluate, manage, and optimize relationships with data and analytics vendors to ensure performance, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with business needs
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5+ years of experience in analytics, business intelligence or data engineering roles
- 4+ years of experience in Power BI (DAX, Power Query, modeling)
- Financial services and/or credit union experience preferred
- Advanced SQL skills working with large, complex datasets
- Demonstrated experience designing and managing data warehouses
- Preferred qualifications include AI experience and/or certification, experience with core banking systems such as Fiserv DNA or similar, experience with automation or scripting (Python, PowerShell, Power Automate, etc.), experience with cloud data platforms (Azure, Snowflake or similar), experience supporting audit and regulatory reporting, knowledge of systems, data engineering & platform expertise, automation and scripting, analytical problem solving & technical depth, data governance, communication & data storytelling, adaptability, cross-functional collaboration
Skills and Abilities
- Systems Knowledge: Proficient in core banking systems such as Fiserv DNA or similar platforms, with the ability to understand data structures and dependencies across financial systems and operational environments.
- Data Engineering & Platform Expertise: Designs and supports scalable data solutions across cloud and on-prem environments (Azure, Snowflake, or similar). Demonstrates strong experience with SQL, data modeling, ETL/ELT pipelines, and building reliable enterprise data architectures that support analytics at scale.
- Automation and Scripting: Applies automation and scripting (Python, PowerShell, Power Automate, or similar tools) to streamline data workflows, reduce manual processes, and improve efficiency and reliability of data operations and reporting.
- Analytical Problem Solving & Technical Depth: Diagnoses and resolves complex data issues across integrated systems, including core banking, databases, and analytics platforms. Quickly identifies root causes, implements sustainable fixes, and ensures long-term data integrity across environments.
- Data Governance: Takes responsibility of data accuracy, consistency, and reliability across the enterprise. Ensures data quality through validation, reconciliation, and governance practices. Maintains high trust in data used for reporting, compliance, and decision making.
- Business & Analytical Acumen: Translates business problems into structured data solutions and actionable insights. Understands financial, operational, and risk-related metrics and connects analytical outputs directly to business outcomes and decision-making.
- Communication & Data Storytelling: Communicates complex technical and analytical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Translates data into meaningful insights for leadership and stakeholders. Produces clear documentation, reporting standards, and user guidance that enables adoption and understanding.
- Adaptability: Performs effectively in dynamic, high-pressure environments with shifting priorities. Demonstrates flexibility in adjusting to evolving technical challenges and demands while maintaining composure, focus, and solution-driven thinking.

Benefits
Verity offers a competitive compensation package including a yearly salary range of $112,415 to $168,622 with a midpoint of $140,519. Starting pay is determined based on experience and education. Additional benefits include:
- 11 paid holidays per year and 3 floating holidays, plus paid time off (PTO) accrues immediately at a rate of 20 days per year.
