Senior Data Analyst with ETL Expertise

About the Role

The Senior Data Analyst with ETL expertise will work with the Information Technology (IT) Division on an enterprise-wide Legacy Replacement program. Responsibilities include detailed field-level analysis, metadata analysis, profiling, and mapping of VSAM files into relational/dimensional SQL tables, as well as conversion and validation efforts. The role involves creating and maintaining a master data dictionary, assisting in database design for mission-critical applications, and inventorying components.

Responsibilities

• Perform source-to-target data mapping in mixed Mainframe and Relational Database environments.
• Create and maintain data dictionary documentation with business terms, valid values, and definitions.
• Convert and migrate VSAM data to relational/dimensional SQL distributed databases.
• Develop applications using IBM DataStage ETL.
• Extract field references and calculated data from COBOL programs.
• Develop complex SQL data validations based on STTMs and target data models.
• Assist in database design for client mission-critical applications and inventory components.

Requirements

• Minimum of five (5) years of source-to-target data mapping experience in mixed Mainframe and Relational Database environments.
• Minimum of three (3) years of recent experience developing applications using IBM DataStage ETL.
• Experience with BMC Control-M workload automation software.
• Experience with GIT version control software.
• Minimum of three (3) years of recent experience with Pension Administration systems.
• Strong SQL knowledge, including complex queries and stored procedures.
• Proficiency in SSRS reports development.
• Proficiency in mainframe applications encompassing COBOL, CICS, and DB2.
• Understanding of data structures and their relationship to ETL applications.
• Ability to work in multiple environments: IBM Mainframe, Windows Server, and SQL Server.

Desirable Skills

• Experience extracting business rules from existing legacy code.
• Experience with Data Quality/Profiling tools.
• Experience with Data Warehouses/Data Marts.
• Prior experience working in a pension system, preferably New York State or New York City pension system.
