About the role

The Senior Credit Development Officer will mentor, train, educate, and enhance employees' knowledge and skillset on credit responsibilities, including commercial underwriting, credit software and templates, and the credit policies and procedures of the bank. This role will also provide overflow commercial credit underwriting and financial analysis support to Renasant Bank’s Commercial Underwriting teams.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and train employees on commercial underwriting fundamentals, systems, tools, workflows, and documentation standards under the leadership and guidance of the Director of Credit Development.
  • Facilitate classroom, virtual, and one-on-one learning sessions for new and existing underwriters in all channels and areas, including but not limited to SBLU, BBLU, CLU, SBA, and RCL. Some learning sessions will expand to include Relationship Managers and Portfolio Managers on credit topics as recommended by management.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date training materials reflecting current underwriting guidelines in accordance with Renasant Bank’s practices and standards, including:
    • Job aides
    • Guidance documents
    • Calculation tools
    • Short videos
  • Support CLU Underwriting Support Services and other employees as needed by reviewing completed work, providing workflow guidance, and offering feedback regarding training progress to the Director of Credit Development.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on loan policy matters, processes, and procedures within the Commercial Underwriting department.
  • Provide coaching and post-training support to the underwriting team, including handling email inquiries. This position will have certain administrative permission sets and responsibilities within Ignite to assist with these inquiries.
  • Manage the CLU Underwriting Support Services team, including hiring, coaching and development, performance evaluations, and disciplinary action.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Economics preferred (or equivalent years of directly related experience will be considered).
  • Minimum of 10 years of extensive Commercial Credit experience in Commercial Loan Underwriting Management, Credit Training, and Underwriting, or 15 years of commercial credit functions, including Credit Administration, Credit Underwriting Management, Credit Underwriting, Credit Training and Mentoring, and Loan Approval experience.
  • Strong knowledge of underwriting commercial construction, C&I, and CRE type loans.
  • Ability to analyze tax returns, accountant-prepared financial statements, and internally prepared financial statements.
  • Knowledge of accounting and finance principles and their applicability to credit responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of loan policy and banking regulations for lending.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to connect, relate, and communicate with people in various positions, from entry-level to executive management.
  • Ability to develop and train using curriculums that effectively educate others in completing their responsibilities.
  • Ability to use the bank’s software and hardware to complete responsibilities.
  • Ability to travel across the bank's geographic footprint to conduct on-site training at designated locations.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand or sit; kneel, stoop, or squat; use hands or fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to walk.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
