Senior Credit Analyst

About the role

The Credit Analyst, Sr position provides high-level analytical support in underwriting and analyzing commercial credit facilities and assists Portfolio Managers and Relationship Managers in managing customer relationships. A Senior Credit Analyst will provide credit analysis support for assigned lending relationships, mentor Client Specialists and other Credit Analysts on lending guidelines and underwriting standards, and work in a team-focused, deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Interpret financial statements and provide financial analysis support for underwriting complex C&I loans, focusing on Medical Practices, service companies, and commercial private client ventures.
• Prioritize and complete production tasks in a timely manner, including financial statement spreading, financial analysis documents, loan system updates (requests, modifications, renewals, annual reviews), covenant monitoring, and industry research.
• Participate in transaction structuring and relationship strategy meetings to justify and explain analysis.
• Analyze and prepare complex credit approval documentation, ensuring accurate reflection of loan terms, collateral, covenants, loan grade inputs, policy exceptions, and credit exposure calculations.
• Partner with Portfolio Managers to monitor and manage assigned commercial loan portfolios, including tracking covenants, recording financial statements, and monitoring company performance.
• Participate in internal credit conversations with Portfolio Managers, Relationship Managers, Credit Risk Managers, and senior management, as well as external meetings with clients and prospects.
• Lead or participate in special projects and other assigned duties.
• Demonstrate ownership of personal performance metrics, flexibility in responding to deadlines, attention to detail, and independence in achieving business goals.
• Identify and report material changes or trends in the financial statements of borrowers or guarantors observed during credit approval preparation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (B.A.), preferably in Accounting, Finance, or Business, or equivalent work experience.
• Five or more years of related experience in Financial Services, Banking, Credit Analysis, Loan Review, or a similar background.
• Familiarity with corporate credit products and processes used to analyze financial data.
• Strong understanding of general bank operations and the commercial lending process.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Access, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with Salesforce or nCino applications is a plus.
• Ability to read, listen, understand, and communicate complex information clearly, both orally and in writing, with senior executives, regulators, and business partners.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret financial reports, legal documents, and perform calculations.
