Senior Counselor

About the Role

Under the direction of the Executive Director Clinical Services, the Senior Counselor assists the Executive Director in the daily operational standards of the unit, maintains unit standards in the absence of the Supervisor, and supports organizational goals through quality customer service, performance improvement efforts, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate caseload assignments and conduct orientation for new clients in the Outpatient program.
• Train new hires, focusing on individual and group counseling, didactics, referral systems, and use of DSM and LOC (minimum 15 clients).
• Coordinate department program schedules to ensure Individual Written Program Plan goals are met.
• Assist with SMART documentation and service input trainings.
• Collaborate with the Supervisor on peer and chart reviews, ensuring HIPAA compliance.
• Provide input on staff annual evaluations.
• Facilitate the Multidisciplinary team when assigned and coordinate client scheduling for presentations.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• New Jersey certificate in addictions treatment (CADC or LCADC).
• Minimum of three years of experience in the field of alcoholism and substance abuse.

Skills

• Demonstrated technical competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
• Proficiency in repetitive motion, hearing, pushing, reaching, reading, seeing, speaking, standing, and walking.
• Experience with equipment such as computer terminals, fax machines, copiers, and telephones.

Work Environment

This position requires physical activities including repetitive motion, hearing, pushing, reaching, reading, seeing, speaking, standing, and walking for the majority of the time. Essential functions are outlined on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
